Pinkie's BBQ
Not worth a second visit
by rjpeterson79
When you think BBQ you think FLAVOR. Well this place missed the mark. I was trying to get in my head what other place I would compare it to and even the McRib had a better flavor. Imagine going to an amusement park and seeing a BBQ restaurant, this is the type of food you would expect. I've had worse, mostly based on their dryness and burnt flavor, but this place needs a whole new recipe. The chicken tasted like liquid smoke and fine ground black pepper, the ribs were ok, but a bit overcooked, the mac n cheese was bland, the coleslaw lacked effort, the BBQ baked beans were undercooked. I would say it was forgettable, but I am sure I would remember not liking the food. I ate it, because it was what was for dinner. But I would NEVER choose to eat there again.
- Pros: BBQ Sauce was great, prices were reasonable, pick-up time wa
- Cons: Food lacked flavor, was not HOT when I picked it up.
The Authentic Smoked Taste
by ichris
I try to bring a co-coworker to Pinkie's a couple Fridays a month, to enjoy ribs, good music in a quaint atmosphere. And a few more times a month with my Wife and Baby-Girl.
Ribs come out un-seasoned, in their bare, primal, authentically-smoked state. You can smell them, let the smokey aroma fill your senses before sprinkling their BBQ sauce and voraciously biting in them.
Many ribs i've had at other restaurants come out fully-seasoned, and it's often hard to tell whether that smoky taste is authentic -- Pinkie's doesn't mess around with their Smoked Ribs: It's real. It stays with you. It makes me happy for the rest of the day.
- Pros: Best Ribs I've Had (and i *love* ribs), Friendly Staff!
You MUST try this barbeque place
by BeachBum1715
I moved to Hermosa Beach about 1 year ago and I have never been able to find good barbeque. There is none here except for like a Korean Barbeque or something. I was so frusterated! - but this is exactly the time of BBQ I've been searching for. Cute little place, decorated really nice and a really friendly staff. I always get the same thing - pulled pork sandwich, with coleslaw and mac and cheese. Def Comfort Food!!!! but I'm sure everything is good! They have really good beers on tap here too so if you want to do happy hour but you don't want to do it in a bar at the pier or some dive bar nearby you can get drink specials and dinner at the same time. Cute name, cute place, Awesome BBQ
- Pros: Food and Service
- Cons: It's kind of small - no big tables for a big group
