John Roy & Bill Dawes made my night.
by dougyfresh at Citysearch
First ever comedy club experience, and I have to say I came in skeptical. I'm not a heavy laugher by any stretch, and bad/inappropriate acts just make me uncomfortable.
However, despite going in blind (except for Bill Dawes, of whom I was already a big fan and he did not disappoint), I was thrilled by the performances of three very capable comedians, all of whom connected at least once with the crowd. John Roy in particular had me gut-laughing, something I haven't done in a long time.
Anyway, this club is an incredible find. Going in on a random night and finding quality talent is a privilege most US cities don't enjoy, so come check them out.
- Pros: Quality entertainment. Can't ask for much more.
- Cons: 2 drink minimum.
The Josh and Myo Show
by aditi16 at Citysearch
A definite must visit, especially for the Josh and Myo Show. I am so glad I got VIP passes off of JoshuaEscandondotcom because when I reached, the crowd was incredible. Everyone had come to become a part of the Josh and Myo Show and thankfully I reached early because it would have been impossible otherwise to get seats of any sort.
The show began with brilliance and I just knew that they have something new up their sleeve yet again. Unlike other live comedy shows, they do not go about with the same routine all over the place. Josh and Myo have a large number of fans who come in regularly. This makes it imperative that their set is unique and they manage to pull it off every week. I cannot imagine the amount of work that goes into their act every Friday.
They also bring on the most amazing guests who have this knack of bringing us to our knees and begging them to stop, so that we can breathe. I can tell you this that my face was completely red by the time I got out of the show.
I loved every minute of it.
- Pros: The Josh and Myo Show
- Cons: Not for the easily offended
Laugh Factory Long Beach A Real Gem
by Charliebigapple at Citysearch
I am a writer and aspiring performer. I was invited to go to the new Laugh Factory in Long Beach. It is the best kept secret in Long Beach that I have discovered and I want to share it with everybody. The place was spectacular and glamorous. The best facility I have ever seen for comedy and magic. I was overwhelmed by the size and the design. The high ceilings were breathtaking and the memorabilia out front were fascinating. The history of comedy around the building was informative and a really nice touch. And the restaurants near the club compliment it perfectly as there is something for everybody. The acts were all top talent. The only disappointing part of the evening was that we had to park at the shopping center parking lot, and even with validation from the Laugh Factory that cost us $15.
- Cons: price of parking
