Tucked away on the second floor of an unglamorous strip mall, this small massage center is like a soothing Zen-like retreat. The airy lobby is stacked with organic beauty products, elixirs, fragrant Illume candles and complimentary cookies. Gracious staffers lead guests to a small, immaculate locker room stocked with shower goodies and fluffy robes. Ten treatment rooms are quiet, peaceful and spacious. Well-trained in shiatsu, deep tissue, reflexology and acupressure, the spa's massage therapists focus on the individual needs of their clients and customize the massage with utmost…

  1. The best quality skincare and massage in LA & they have parking!
  2. really love the decor.
  3. Their recent remodeling has further enhanced the already warm and comfortable setting.
  4. Now for all the fantastic things: The ladies room is always clean and overstocked with slippers, cozy comfy robes, hair ties, towels in all sorts of sizes, all sorts of toiletries and most importantly.
  5. am so glad I gave the place a second chance, because the location truly is great, free parking is a huge plus, and the atmosphere is relaxing with the steam room and amenities.
  6. Good location and nice facility and nice staff, just not strong enough for my knots!
  7. It was unfortunate, because I wanted to like the place, because I liked the tranquility of the place, the steam room, convenient parking, and the general area (the Japanese market and restaurants).
  8. This place is a little pricey and tricky to get to (odd location), but once you are there, the staff is highly qualified, and the massages are wonderful.
  9. My first massage was wonderful- strong but never painful, the steam room was hot and the atmosphere was really nice.

overall

  1. have had massages for years from some of the best spas in the city and when traveling and I am flabbergasted that this place seems to find the best, most professional massage therapists.
  2. It's a nice, clean place, with men's and women's locker rooms and steam rooms, showers, robes and the little things like razors and mouthwash.
  3. Value: This massage center is by far the best value for the money if you want a massage and steam in a nicer place.
  4. This is a good place to relax and have a massage.
  5. This is truly a nice, little place.
  6. If you want a decent massage in a nice place, Aqua is ok but it's way more expensive- the last time I went it was $125 for a 50 minute sports massage compared with $85 for a sports massage at Massage Therapy Center that was 60 minutes.

  5. So I trusted the good people of Citysearch to lead me down the path to nirvana -- the perfect massage.
  6. Brigitte and Faith are wonderful, friendly, highly knowledgeable facialists, I can't imagine going to anyone else!
  7. Friendly staff, friendly place, one of the few reasons why I wished I still lived in LA!
  8. The staff was great, but I would've liked for my lady to recommend treatments at home, or tell me how often I should come in etc.
  9. This place is a little pricey and tricky to get to (odd location), but once you are there, the staff is highly qualified, and the massages are wonderful.
  10. The people who work in the lobby are really helpful.
  11. I've had many people here, and I have yet to have one disappointing massage.
  12. Very nice people too.
  13. After a disappointing first-time massage experience, I went back for a second try after a conversation with the manager who promised to match me with a masseuse who would meet my needs.

  1. Massage Therapy is the best massage value in town.
  2. Take a nice steam or a long relaxing shower with the huge waterfall showerhead they have.
  3. have tried everything from the cheesy $42 moldy shower, "McMassage" places to the most expensive spas like Aqua.
  4. My only critique would be that though I've been to mtc many times, and I usually hear about promotions during my appointments in conversation- I'm never sent anything in the mail, called, or informed at check out, but I do know they have some really good

My Not-So-Secret Spot

by jayesem

Massage Therapy Center is one of those places you tell all of your friends about, but hope no one else finds out about your secret. If I want to have a spa day with some girlfriends, I would probably go elsewhere, as others have mentioned. But, if you want the best facials and the best massages or body work in L.A. you should come here. The service is excellent, the astheticians and therapists are the best in the business and very consistent in their service. Both Brigitte and Tricia give incredible facials and Robert is so talented with massage and bodywork I never see anyone else. He fixes my aches and pains like no one else can and I've made a monthly appointment with him for the last few years.

You need to book an appointment with the Transformer

by LaVerne Ross

My body has experienced a transformation since I began my massage therapy with one of the most professional, attentive, and caring massage therapists who works at The Massage Therapy Center. I believe that "Grace" is one of the most dedicated massage therapists in her field. When I say transformation, I mean I am able to sit, walk, and even stand straighter than before entering The Massage Therapy Center. I will recommend Grace to every one that I know. In addition the atmosphere at The Massage Therapy Center is conducive to relaxation. See you there.

My long-time favorite facialist- great spot

by Webcustoms

I started as a client of Brigitte several years ago in Palm Springs- back then, she solved my acne problems- and after that, though I tried other facials- no one surpassed her ability to improve my skin, even now that I'm much older and it's very dry. I also see her for waxing.

Martin has worked on me before, and is exceptionally knowledgeable and skilled. I've heard only great things about every other massage therapist here as well.

The review below didn't specify a facialist, but I did notice it was written when Brigitte was away for a few weeks- so I believe it was a substitute facialist, as I've never known her to "upsell" her services.

I adore the steam room at massage therapy center- it makes the experience very relaxing and luxurious. The showers are great too- they have done all that is possible (and necessary) with a small space. If you want pools and hot tubs and fake scenery you can pay twice as much and go somewhere else. The hours of operation are great for those of us who work late.

My only critique would be that though I've been to mtc many times, and I usually hear about promotions during my appointments in conversation- I'm never sent anything in the mail, called, or informed at check out, but I do know they have some really good deals and packages.

  • Pros: Nice location, Brigitte (facialist), luxurious but simple
  • Cons: Promotions could be better, tends to be hot
