Editorial Review for Desert Hills Premium Outlets – by Ginny Chien
In Short
Located in the middle of nowhere (well, really about an hour east of L.A. in Cabazon), this colossal outdoor mall entices city dwellers with name-brand labels ranging from Armani to Zegna. Although the stores span over two full blocks, chances of finding good merchandise in the outdoor mall's 120 stores are so-so. Stylish gals can find plenty of pants and off-the-shoulder tops for under $50 at Laundry, BCBG and Max Studio. By late afternoon, shelves at A/X Armani Exchange are thoroughly ravaged.

They have all the good stores there: BCBG, YSL, Gucci, Dolce&Gabbana, Versace, Christian Dior, Escada, Lacoste, AG, Space,Coach, Barneys, Off Saks,Giorgio Armani, Tod's, and alot more. Best time to go is X-mas and/or New Years (<--- I recommend). Most stores have good CS but three or four may not (ex:D&G). Only thing that sucks is the 2 1/2 - 3 hr drive from L.A. I FOUND A GREAT DIOR LOGO S/L Tee last X-mas for $100 valued at $410 from Girly Glamour Collecton. Also got some Gucci shades for $60 at off saks n I found the D&B rainbow colored logo bag for $98 while in stores it was still $150. Just make sure that you VERY happy w/ur purchase because u dont want to make a 3hr drive just to return it. *A few steps away from DH outlets there is another small outlet w/13 or 15 stores.
Pros: Luxury Stores, sales tax 7.00 (hehe), Huge parking lot
Cons: The Drive, busy during holidays

2 hours from Santa Monica was worth the hike for current Cole Haan hobos, big selection of Coach items, Lucky Brand goods at 50% off retail, Kenneth Cole, Polo, Gucci, Barney's New York. Get there before noon and avoid week-ends when all the tourists flock in. Park in between the east and west wings and make a figure eight to cover all the stores. Baron's Burgers are a great pick-me-up. Sign up for the VIP Shopper e-mail and print your coupons before you arrive; no sob story accepted here. Be sure to get the coupon book from customer service; you'll use them.
Pros: great bargains, lots of coupons, great selection
