What a FREAKIN ripoff!. Friday night - got picked up at Dimples in Burbank. Got a ride less than 3 miles away. The meter read $19.95. WHAT A JIP! 5 mins in an LA cab cost more the 5 mins with a Vegas CALL Girl! YOU figure out what is a better deal!
Awful driver #35(Geoffrey Chuks Akpuh) #446992.. Awful driver #35(Geoffrey Chuks Akpuh) #446992. First, he drives recklessly with my wife pregnant 6 months pregnant in back. I think he was upset because it was a short trip, which means less fare for him. Second, when we got to our destination, and asked to pay by credit card, he started YELLING, saying he doesn't take credit card and we should have told him in the beginning and that we should have read the sign in the cab about the credit card policy (which actually says "credit cards welcomed") Not only did the sign say we CAN pay by credit card, but he had a credit card machine in the cab(which he then tells me it's broken). We've paid by credit card before and never has it been a problem. If you're a supervisor for United Independent Taxi reading this review, please talk to him about this, because his actions were very rude, his driving was very unsafe, and his attitude very unfriendly. A very bad character with no integrity. That's the image I see now of United Independent Taxi... unfortunately.
5-10 minutes does not equal 45 minutes.
First time I called this company. I was told 5-10 minutes the cab would arrive. I called for updates 2 times, and was told it was almost there. 45 minutes later, it arrived.
5 minutes later, we were driving along and a loud metal noise interrupted the ride. The next thing I know the driver is getting out to fetch his hub cap rolling down the street.
Overall, not the best cab experience. Next time I'm trying another one.
The worst taxi service in LA. Called this service, they said they'd call when outside. Driver was outside of my house for 1.5 seconds then drove down hill and left. Received no call from them to say that driver was outside. Then driver just took off without waiting for us. They're horrible.
The best of the worst (I LOVE LA). You could say that I am more objective or less objective, being as I own taxicabs in Palmdale (not Los Angeles). Dispatching to a group of independent contractors with flexible hours can be problematic and is a challenge at all companies in Los Angeles. Considering that UITD handles over 2-3,000 calls per day and has only two complaints on here says allot. Most people do not take the time to type a positive review, so I will give my opinion. Yes you should call back if your taxi has not arrived on time and yes you should allow extra time when going somewhere important. In my experience however UITD has the most professional dispatch and the strictest standard for internal enforcement of customer service policies for drivers. If I needed to order a taxi for myself in Los Angeles, I would call United Independent Taxi.
never showed up, unreliable & unprofessional. i ordered a cab from my dr.'s office in santa monica to get home. pick-up location was right next to st. john's, so you can't miss it if you tried. waited a total of 50 min. & called 4x; the cab never showed up. each time i called they said they'll put a "priority" on it & said it will arrive in 10 min. why did i wait so long? i figured in the time it takes for me to get a cab from another co. to arrive, this one might show...seemed logical, until 45 minutes had passed, at which point i called taxi!taxi! who showed up in less than 5. dispatch at united indep. was also unprofessional not to mention blatantly dishonest about the cab showing up in 10 min. BOTTOM LINE: if you actually want to get to your destination, call someone who will actually show up.
Bad service, bad attitude. I reserved a taxi to pick us up Thanksgiving morning at 3:30 a week before. On Thanksgiving morning, they called at 3:10 to confirm we still needed the taxi. However, it still arrived 20 minutes late and probably would not have arrived at all had I not called them 3 times. I had to deal with an operator who wouldn't listen to me and a driver with a bad attitude. I should add that the driver responded to the call to pick us up at 3:38 - 8 minutes AFTER we were supposed to be picked up. We were trying to get to the airport to catch a plane!
