My mom is Korean so I have been to my fair share of Korean restaurants but Dong Il Jang has always been one of my favorite, if not my favorite, since I can remember. The restaurant is much larger than other Korean restaurants with separate dining areas including a place for larger parties. The food is extremely authentic, especially the ban chans (Korean side dishes) and the meat is cooked in front of you on the table so you can control how well done you like your meat. The food is always very fresh and flavorful and the menu offers a wide variety of entrees including noodles, meats, fishes and soups. The only down side of Dong Il Jang is that it is almost too authentic in that the employees don??????t seem to speak English so unless you are familiar with Korean dining or are with someone who is, or speaks Korean, I would imagine that it is hard to order and communicate with the waitress. I guess this is what you can expect at an authentic restaurant located in the heart of LA??????s Koreatown. Other highlights include fast service, cleanliness, plenty of seats and a big parking lot.

This is a really good korean restaurant in Koreatown. My sister-in-law, who is korean, introduced me to it, so I know it's authentic. There are other really good hole in the wall places to eat in K-Town, but this restaurant is very pleasant and clean. They give you a lot of food and side dishes. It has always been an enjoyable experience to dine there.

Dong il Jang is one of the best Korean food restaurants in LA. Don't believe what "Korean Food Critic" wrote. obvious if he didn't like it, he wouldn't have not gone so many times. The staff may seem "rude" but you have to remember this place is VERY busy. The waitress are supposed to put the food on the plate to start you out and then you must cook it yourself, that is the way most Korean BBQ places are. My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for 7 years at lease once a month, and you do get a waitress every now and them seem rude, but they are not really doing it to be nasty, they just have lots of customers to deal with like the RUDE "Korean Food Critic" person. Disregard his review and believe the others, you love it!!
