love place, great pupusas, great cabbage, wonderful vegetable, genuinely happy owners, great painting, great huevos
Delicious homestyle food! Great huevos rancheros! A hidden Gem. I love this place for breakfast. Delicious food!! Huevos rancheros have this incredible sauce not spicy but delicious. The pupusas and cabbage are great. beans and plantains also great. I tried the plato gordo but the meat was a little overdone. The grilled shrimp were very good though. Wonderful fruit and vegetable drinks. Good soups. Just a great home atmosphere. Like you are having breakfast at your abuela's or something. Funky old decor. There is a great painting of a giant apple inside and the booths are old and lumpy and blue. Service is funky like you don't always get your dishes at the same time. This place is so charming especially because it is unpretentious and good value. $3.00 for huevos rancheros. If you've had salvadorean food you'll love it, if not give it a try it's delicious.
La Fe Is An Echo Park Underdog.. La Fe could be described as the third world of restaurants butttt it does have a somewhat charming appeal if you're not looking for any kind of "scene" whatsoever. The food is homecooked but still somehow lacking. The beans seemed a bit runny and watered down. Still, I have a special place in my heart for La Fe for a few reasons. It's never crowded. The prices are beyond reasonable (under $3.00 or something ridiculous like that) and the owners of the restaurant seemed so genuinely happy to serve their native dishes that I couldn't help but feel enthusiastic as well. The chocomilk esquimo is a good alternative to a frappuccino if you like sugary drinks. Good for breakfast on those mornings when you just want to be antisocial. The decor is so pitifully mismatched, it will make you want to bring them gifts of fresh flowers and tablecloths.
