In Short – This homey, unassuming enclave is decorated with colorful arts-and-craft items from Mexico and the Southwest. Like the decor, the cuisine is a mixture of regional fare and Southwest flourishes. Burritos, fish tacos, carne asada and other standards are joined by dishes that employ mole or salsa verde. The chimichanga de chocolate--a deep-fried, tortilla-wrapped almond Hershey bar dusted with powdered sugar--is a dessert favorite.

Awesome Menu

by dgoshilla at Citysearch

The service was awesome, and I like the BYOB policy.

The best part of this restaurant is the original menu. Its not your "traditional" Mexican fare and it really looks and tastes like they've got a chef that knows what's up.

Fabulous & Fresh Mexi-Cali Menu

by LindaRouse at Citysearch

I make it a point to eat here every time I'm in L.A. - and don't let the discovery that this unassuming little place is in a strip mall - this food is wonderful. If there's a wait - it's worth it. NOTE: A reviewer in February mistook this place for some place called Antonio and put her bad experience under Alegria's on Sunset's reveiw.

  • Pros: The food!
  • Cons: It's not a "romantic" wine and dine place.

The food is always fresh!

by asp811 at Citysearch

Alegria offers your typical Mexican fare except its extra fresh! I recommend their burrito and try one of their "waters." For the most part, the staff is friendly and willing to explain their take on familiar dishes. You're probably better off trying it out for lunch since its not as crowded. The parking lot is always full and there's little off street parking to speak of, since it competes with other local restaurants.
