Editorial Review for LG's Prime Steakhouse – by Tara de Lis
The Scene
Old-fashioned charm, intimate booths and comfortable tables make LG's ideal for special occasions. Decor is upscale, but the dress code is flexible to accommodate the weather; some diners sport T-shirts and shorts in summer, while others dress up regardless of outside temperature.
The Food
The menu veers slightly from red meat delicacies, but stick to steak for the best experience. Start with Caesar salad. Prepared tableside, servers mix ingredients into a fabulously large concoction that's more than sufficient for two people. Menu highlights include tender prime rib, which oozes with juicy flavor, and perfectly marbled 24-ounce porterhouse, known as the "jewel in the crown," this hearty cut is aged in an on-site facility. Unfortunately, LG's overstretches its expertise with escargot, which suffers from Parmesan-heavy sauce, a shortcoming also apparent in the cream spinach side dish.

Upon being seated I was asked to remove my hat, normally I'd leave but I was hungry;) Everyone was friendly, service was great, place was clean, nice relaxing and dimly lit indoors, also a heated outdoor area. The food: onion ring appetizer was so-so, served with ranch dressing, can feed 3-4 people. Asparagus for 2 with hollandaise sauce was quite good. Got both house special aged prime porterhouse steaks, the 30 oz. has the fat left on and was very flavorful, I never had a steak served untrimmed this way before, some people may be turned off to all that fat so be prepared, but it was cooked to perfection and I did enjoy it. The 26 oz. was trimmed nicely and equally as good, both served on a sizzling plate. The steaks are pricey but the quality is right up there with the best, total for all the food plus 2 iced teas and free sourdough bread which was very good $125, add in the tip and you're thankful that you're too full for dessert. They also had an extensive wine list.
Pros: steaks, ambience, location
Cons: price, side dishes, hat policy

June 17, 2004 LG's in Palm Springs..on Palm Canyon Drive is the BEST!!!! Downtown PS, GREAT people, the PRIME STEAKS are nothing to be compared too. I recommend that you have the Caesar Salad for 2 which is made for you at the table, the REAL way the salad is to be made. My hats are off to them. If you are in town and have dinner at LG's in PS..ask for Chip's table..he is great... Thank you! David in Yakima, WA
Pros: Great Steaks(PRIME), Great Service, Affordable Prices
