Editorial Review for Palms Thai – by Martha Burr
The Scene
You are now entering the Thai-light Zone. In the heart of Thai Town, Palms is the home of the Thai Elvis (aka Kevin), complete with platform shoes and flashy Vegas suits. At first, he seems over-the-top kitsch, but a few songs later, you'll realize he's actually quite good. Thanks to him, what used to be a low-key Thai dinner club scene now attracts a number of Hollywood hipsters.
The Food
While the standards are superior, it's hard to resist the exotic specialties. Wild boar in spicy coconut sauce is chewy, but incredibly flavorful; deer in crispy mint leaves is rich and luscious; frogs legs fried in chili with green peppercorns are heavenly. Carpaccio fans will reach nirvana with the lime-drenched, basil-tinged, chili-infused raw beef salad. Milder thrills are found in the coconut-chicken soup or delicate fish broth, full of snapper floating in aromatic lime leaves.

I got to say that honestly i am not related to this restaurant at all, I'm only just a big fan of this awesome restaurant and the incredible Thai Elvis. I am a full blooded Chinese girl and what i love the most is Thai Food. I've been going to Palm's ever since they were in the old place. I kinda like the old place better which now turned in to "Patio Thai". I have never dare to write any reviews before because English is my second language. But today i will try my best to emphasize what i have on my mind towards this citysearch reviews to Palm's Thai. Please excuse my poor English. To me, i do feel that there are lots of good things at this lovely restaurant if you only get a chance to go there. And i do think that they deserves a good reviews about them. I do believe that most of the negative comment about this place are from those people that have never even been to Palm's. I don't really know the intention to screw up this restaurant by writing the negative comments about them. I find that things that people wrote here are totally nonsense!!! For example: one guy complaining about Palm's Mango with Sticky rice taste bad HELLO! PALM"S NEVER HAD MANGO WITH STICKY RICE ON THEIR MENU EVER SINCE I STARTED COME HERE! For example: one guy complaining about the delivery order that takes 40 mins and Palm's charges $5.00 for delivery. HELLO! THAI FOOD USUALLY TAKES TIME TO PREPARE, IF YOU ONLY HAVE SOME COOKING SKILLS. I HAVE THEIR DELIVERY MENU IN MY HAND WHICH SAIDS "FREE DELIVERY!!!" THERE IS NO SUCH THINGS AS $5.- CHARGE. This is just 2 example of the scam reviews that i can not tolerate to read no more. I think everybody loves to read a useful reviews. Don't waste time to write something that is totally UNTRUE. UNLESS YOU GOT PAID TO DO SO???? BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN YOU READ THOSE REVIEWS

Food is ok, but not worth being held up! Yes...my friend and I were robbed while sitting outside. There was even a security guard on duty, but he apparently was too busy to notice that a deranged crackhead had come into the patio area off of Hollywood Blvd. threatening us and demanding our money and cell phone batteries. The restaurant was packed, yet not one member of the incompetent staff thought it was odd that there was suddenly a new guest at our table counting a roll of freshly-stolen cash. Looking back on the night, the fact that the waiter screwed up our order, then spent several minutes belligerently arguing and refusing to correct his mistake almost seems almost like a fond memory in comparison. (Although, it did seem a little tasteless when he brought it up again after we were robbed...) Don't let the seemingly reasonable prices fool you. Dinner for two for all of the cash in our wallets and a couple of cell phone batteries hardly qualifies as a deal.
Pros: ABSOLUTELY NONE
Cons: EVERYTHING, from the rude wait staff to the incompetant security system to the blah food
