view & uploadamazing quick mexican food, best little burritos, best mexican tacos, love yucas, thin meat, favorite meal, highly overrated place
I Dream About Their Burritos.
Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I have to go to this parking lot and wait in the long line (which tells you it's worth it) and get the very simple, but amazing burrito. There's a certain flavor, I'm assuming from a region of Mexico, a something smokey, or something, that is just fabulous.
This is one of those best kept secrets!
Amazing tasting mexican food.. Whenever burritos are mention, this is the first place that comes to mind. Been going here for over 14 years now and it still the best in my opinion, not the best looking but who cares when it so good..Definitely worth stopping by if you love mexican food.
Simple and Great. There's not a Lot of variety this place can offer, but what it's got it's got good. People are right about the puerco pibil-- it's fantastic and the feature of the menu. It's a real fun place to stop and grab some food.
Machaca Burrito.
Machaca is my new favorite word. Stewed, stringy beef! In a burrito with some pinto beans. Warm flour tortilla wrapping it all up. About the size of a small envelope, not the rolled stomach bombs served up at Mexican McDonalds' like BJ Fresh. These burritos are tasty, juicy, small, and only $3.50 (something like that). Where else can you eat for under $5?
Well, lots of places, but not in this neighborhood.
This is a cool, family-run business.
Plus, it's awesome to see trendy types reduced to the level of common humanity when they try to pronounce "Cochinita Pibil."
the cochinita pibil burrito is heaven. No they don't have chicken. The tiny shack/kitchen can only handle so many ingredients and cooking supplies, and pork is their specialty. All you need to know about Yuca's is the "cochinita pibil burrito". Get it, you will like it. Do not compare it to all the burritos you have ever had or liked. This is s a traditional Mexican slow-roasted pork dish from Yucatan. Preparation of traditional cochinita or puerco pibil involves marinating the meat in strongly acidic citrus juice, coloring it with annatto seed, and then roasting the meat. For those who are not experienced with this, it will be a different taste for you, but I assure you will enjoy the flavor.
Overrated and under seasoned. Upon reading rave reviews about this place I decided to go and check it out. I stood in line in a cramped space that I shared along with other people who tried to manage eating without elbowing the people inches away from them in line. My order was taken by a pleasant older lady who was incredibly polite and kind. I ordered the cochinita pibil burrito and carnitas tacos and took my food to go because I felt like eating in my car next to the Echo Park lake. The only lasting impression I got from the food was the smell of onions lingering in my car for a week afterwards. I even had to wash my hands 10 times in order to get the smell of the onions off. The food was not that amazing being that it was bland and under seasoned. So to sum it up this place is highly overrated; I?ve eaten better burritos and tacos elsewhere. ----------------- EDIT: Since my last visit i decided to give Yuca's another try. This time i ended up going for the hamburger, which is something i typically do when i go to places; ordering food that isn't their specialty and was pleasantly surprised. Personally, i thought the hamburger was better than the food that Yuca's is known for. The meat patty was nice and thin, and the tomatoes, lettuce and pickles were nice, crunchy and fresh. I'd say, go for the hamburgers!
So so. I do not see what all of the hype is about. This place is very much mediocre. If Yuca's is not close to you no worries. I wouldn't recommend going out of my way for this food. As commented by prior reviews the burritos are a bit small and quite greasy. I do not see how this place is any better than any other taco stand or Mexican restaurant in the area- actually I think "El Grande Burrito", a taco stand/restaurant not so far away at Vermont and Beverly, is much tastier and has a better menu. To each his own.
Great toco stand!. The guys 1st review is so way off, either they're nuts or a competitor. The burritos have no grease at all, come on. Grease, that's funny. These are just great little burritos with tons of flavor with or without hot sauce. Lard a problem? Go easy beans. The meats are really good, all of them, but the toco's are small for the money. But if you want a quick Mexi fix, this is the place! The carnitas toco's are about the best, mechacha about as good, verde burrito kicks butt, and take something to go cause you know you'll want more later. Cash only & seating is an issue, but no one seems to care. Try it, you'll like it.
Best home-style taste anywhere, small yet humble, worth the 20 mile drive.. Yuca's is a little hidden taco stand that can very easily be overseen, but worth searching for. If you are the type of person that can taste the difference between one burrito to another, than you will definitely appreciate Yuca's food. I have four children and each one has a favorite meal, luckily Yuca's sells hot dogs, hamburgers, tortas, burritos and homemade drinks. Unfortunately she does not sell bottle water or sodas, but there is a small store steps away. All this talk is making me hungry; I know where I'm going for lunch... See you at Yuca's!
Delicious tacos at a personable burrito stand.. Yuca's is a quick walk from my home, so I have eaten here fairly regularly for years. As tasty as the burritos are (and I crave the carne asada ones), what I really love are the tacos. Braised, juicy meat (I favour the carnitas) nestled in a couple of soft white corn tortillas, topped with a dash of salsa picada. Two of these are just right for me, although my appetite is merely average. Cash only, but the Albertson's across Hillhurst has ATMs just within the entrance.
