What People Are Saying About Ye Rustic Inn

In Short – This dark dive feels like ... well yeah, a rustic inn. When your eyes adjust, you'll probably notice that the walls are wood paneled, the scant lighting comes from antler chandeliers and all five satellite TVs are tuned into sports--not that you can hear over the jukebox. Good luck grabbing one of those cushy, half-moon booths that look so inviting. You'll have better luck at the expansive bar, but prepare for the crush as thirsty regulars pack it in. Don't worry, you won't mind after a few of the stiff drinks the beloved female bartenders are famous for. In-the-know smokers…

I'll never go back
by MMm at Citysearch
I've been going there for years.
The food has been good, most of the time.
Mostly good company, with a few exceptions.
I guess a dive bar is one that looks well used,
with it's regulars sitting at the bar, and the unfamiliar usually sitting at the tables.
The jukebox plays old 80's hits and stuff from beyond.
The T.V.'s are mostly tuned to sports.
The bar backs are usually pretty cool guys, but some of
the bar waitresses are a little too sensitive, too easily angered. They probably just have too much attitude, but you should be careful about looking at them, they may throw you out for it.
That said.....I'll never go back.
Love it!

Go to the Rustic during the day and get your, "hair of the dog" on. Order ten hot-wings and a pitcher of beer for 20 bucks. Great place to catch, "the game" and drunken sports fans of teams around the world, (without the JOCK mentality). It's nice and dark in there ... spend the afternoon and be shocked to walk out into the sunlight. One of the best in the city ... especially if you miss the great greaaazzzy bar food of the midwest.
Boycotting Karaoke Night
by paowens at Citysearch
As one of the last holdouts among my friends I have been a loyal costumer until last week! Tuesday evenings are their karaoke nights. I had been there before and while it was nothing special and I ignored the "everything I do is ironic" vibe of some of the hipster participants, I had no legitimate complaints - nor was I ever looking for one.
Recently I met up with the same regulars I usually have drinks with there and karaoke was about to begin. Initially I swallowed the sour attitude of the guy running the music when he spoke to me as if in a scolding manner because my solo "stage name" read different from my duet "stage name." Most other places have great fun with the funny names you and your group come up with but not him. Even though he was quite abrasive about such a ridiculous thing I assured him it wasn't to mastermind a scheme to sing more than others get the chance to. (I was nice and didn't say it like that but he acted as though a dastardly deed had occurred)
For the first 20 minutes or so everyone was having a perfectly nice time. Karaoke is not for snobs and professionals sing shoulder to shoulder with people that are nervous to sing in the shower - that's the fun of it. Everyone was very supportive no matter what the song choice or the level of singing. THEN (cue dramatic music) three tragically, ironically dressed hipsters who where very familiar with the karaoke guy stepped in (even though they got there after many more had already signed up) took the mic and with an unwarranted machismo as though they owned the place, and proceeded to underwhelm with a forgettable performance. Forgettable until they started adding their own words and began railing on the nice guy who sang a King of Leon song to his girlfriend before them. At first I remarked "these guys really don't like Kings of Leon" but their rant against this poor guy got nastier and nastier until they where just swearing and calling him names. The guy took his pride and his girl out the door as these douches took the fun right out of the room.
When several people complained to karaoke grump that they had signed up a long time ago and his buddies where going up again and again to strut around the room and only amuse themselves, he started getting angry. First making up random rules and then using the old "I guess you don't want to sing, do you?" bribe.
His "too cool for school" buddy trio noticed the complaints to there friend karaoke grump and quickly changed their lyrics to attack the people who dared speak up. Now I swear all the time but three guys on a microphone berating and calling people every name in the book - that's right especially the "C" word is not my idea of fun.
Many people who had signed up early when the vibe was friendly left. I know a regular complained to the manager but I don't know what the response was. When I complained, however she rudely said " There's nothing I can do about it. AS she walked away. Well, there's something I can do, say goodbye to you and your tasty wings forever.
- Pros: Great wings, strong drinks
- Cons: tragically hipster
Great neighborhood joint
by DimMak at Citysearch
I have lived nearby for years and this place has always been popular. It's like a grungy East Coast or Midwest neighborhood bar, except the girls are cuter. Always an interesting collection of locals and a great place to stop on a Los Feliz pub crawl. The food is pretty good. The Hot Wings are the stars, though. And I like that I don't get the "I'm a Hollywood Bartender" attitude from the girls that work here. That's unique in this section of town. The drinks are strong and tasty. Though I avoid the Jagermeister as its a bit overpriced. Lots of big flatscreens not only show sports stuff but also provide the only light in the place. Well, there are some candles too. Good, blurry people and good, blurry times.
- Pros: Dark! Hot Wings! Strong drinks! Pretty girls!
- Cons: None
Great place to chill
by Kfox727 at Citysearch
The Rustic is the best place to go if you're looking for a great neighborhood bar with a friendly staff, strong drinks, and great food. The wings are incredible, and the rest of the menu has a variety of items, perfect for whatever mood you're in. They have a great happy hour Monday through Thursday, 4-7, with specials on beer, liquor, and food. If you're into sports, there are several flat screen TVs showing all the big games in HD. All in all, it's my favorite go-to spot when I want to kick back and relax. Check it out!
