terrific thai - great date spot!. I always love to find those perfect little restaurants that have great food along with nice ambiance.....a friend recommended Simply Thai and we tried it this weekend. We found fantastic Thai food in a very chic and romantic setting - its quiet and dark with lots of red, lots of candles, lots of fabric....beautiful.

we had a terrific appetizer plate and the pad Thai - the dipping sauces are all perfect and everything was amazing....we can't wait to go back!



the best parts: great Thai food at very reasonable prices (under $50 for two including sake), everyone was friendly, and there was no wait

Decent and a bit over-priced. I've been to Simply Thai several times over the course of the 15 years I've lived in the neighborhood. The food is decent,a bit over-priced and the owner does have a bit of an attitude. I once stopped by and only wanted a side order of rice to go and the woman just about bit my head off. If you live within walking distance and just have to have Thai food immediately it's fine. Otherwise,there are too many other places to choose from.

Wonderful Restaurant....ever. I've been to Simply Thai for both lunch and dinner every week since Feb, 2006. The service they provide is always attentive, helpful and very friendly.

I was shocked when I read Janedoe597's review on 1/1/2008 about this restaurant. Neither the price of $70 for two nor no refill of soda by glass but the attitude of this person. Another surprise was Janedoe597 wrote five reviews on the same day with unacceptable words to post on a public website, especially the one for El Guapo Mexican Cantina on Melrose.

Janedoe597, your reviews are very helpful, not for the information about the restaurants but the information about you, yourself.

Rude attitude!. I went for the first and only time for a simple lunch pick up. I ordered the curry, which ended up costing $14 for a meal that hardly filled me up. The food itself was decent, but definately not worth the price. When I told the lady that I wanted the meal to be from the lunch special, she went right into attack mode. I ended up paying for the meal and eating it, but as I left I told her I would never return again, to which she replied "I don't care."

I couldn't endorse a place that treats its customers so poorly.

From now on, I'll go to the place down the road.

Yummy!. I had this restaurant cater a business lunch I had... I called in and the lady was very helpful with deciding a menu for the # of people I had to accomodate. Very easy to order, the delivery was on time, and the food was hot and delicious! Got a variety of different dishes, and all of them were yummy!

Stands out in a city filled to the brim with Thai restaurants. There is no shortage of Thai restaurants in LA -- especially in the east side, but after discovering Simply Thai, I have found no reason to go elsewhere. In the three years I've frequented this restaurant, the quality of food and service has never wavered. I've tried most of their main entree dishes and they've all been excellent (my favorites have been the Shrimp Panang, Dark Soy Noodles, Yellow Curry, Prik King and Tom Kha soup). Also, very recently I've become a vegetarian--but this has not hampered my enjoyment of their food. Simply substitute meat dishes for tofu and they're still as tasty as ever--as the key to great thai food lies in the sauces and spices. Not only is the food great, but the decor is terrific and the owner never fails to greet us with a friendly salutation and smile. I actually write this review with a little hesitance, as one of the best things about Simply Thai is that you never need to wait for a table or make a reservation--and part of me is afraid that this would change if the word got out!

Great Thai Food!. I was first introduced to Thai food several years ago at this restaurant and thanks to Simply Thai I have been a fan ever since. They have excellent Pad Thai and their Panang sauce is perfect...not runny and a little bit spicy. The dinner portions are a little big for me which is great because left over Pad Thai is great for lunch the next day! Speaking of lunch, they have a great selection and price for the lunch menu. I also have to point out the good service and food presentation. Everyone there has a smile and is attentive. The food also looks great when served...I especially like the pyramid of rice! The decor and ambiance in the restaurant are also well done. This is not your typical strip mall Thai place. Simply Thai has a look of elegance and sophistication. This is a great place for a date indeed! Finally, I have to mention the Thai Iced Tea and Green Tea Ice Cream...YUMMY! If you are a fan of Thai food this is the place for you!

finally a great thai place. we were so happy to find such a great thai place right around the corner. the decor is original, cozy, and romantic, and the food was excellent. we would recommend the string beans, pad see ew, pad thai, and phoenix in flames chicken. we'll definitely go back!!

Great food. I am not a huge thai food fan but really enjoyed the dishes I've had here. I have been back several times with small and large parties. Service is always good and the meals are reasonably priced. Their food can be a little spicy, so let the waitress know if you need it toned down a bit. Your face will be sweating for sure.
