tasty sushi, fav rolls, fresh food, excellent menus, fresh fish, fast service, favorite anything crunchy
Very Mediocre Food With No Service. They are under new management and have a new sushi chief and new servers. First of all, they have Carl's Jr. service. You will only get to see them when they take your order and when they bring your check. They just like to chit chat next to a cash register. Trust me; they deserve no tip. Also, the owner should seriously consider bringing back the old chief. Both sushi and maki (roll) have an all-you-can-eat level of taste. Although garnishing and food presentation are above average, they become meaningness once you taste your first piece.
Limited seating - Unlimited Flavor!. Most of the time you'll have to wait to get a table at this restaurant, but it's worth it. The prices are very average and the food is above-average. The menu offers a huge selection of traditional sushi combos as well as specialty plates. My all-time favorite is the Tofu Salad and Shrimp Tempura roll. Everything always tastes fresh and the food is prepared quickly and presented well. Nothing fancy here, just good food!
Tadpole.
For quick sushi in the neighborhood, California Roll is usually a good place. Usually produces fresh tasting dishes but there are times that the food doesn't taste as fresh.
They have some goods to try, like sushi taco and crazy boy roll. They say they strive for fat free but I think that's a bit crazy with a deep fried roll!
Sushi 4 Less.
Excellent and daring menus skillfully brought forth from cramped galley will appease even the most discerning palate with palpably fresh fish and an imagination you can taste. No two orders will ever be quite the same, yet the enduring endorphin narcosis that follows the meal is always familiar.
A stunning example of exactly why it is unnecessary to pay $100 for a delicious sushi dinner, even in this town. I don't think I'm overstepping bounds by claiming this to be the tastiest and best sushi restaurant in any Albertson's parking lot, ever.
Innovative rolls. This is one of my favorite sushi places around this area. They have a great selection of very creative rolls. My favorite is anything crunchy and cooked, like soft shell crab roll, tempura shrimp roll, salmon skin roll, deep-fried california roll, etc. They are very quick with their service, and usually friendly. Prices are fair, and there's usually parking.
Tasty sushi, fair prices. Sushi is great, always fresh and tasty. They have an enormous variety of 'different' rolls (e.g. the Hawaiian). Spider and Rainbow rolls are my fav's. Dining area is cramped, so taking out is preferred to eating in unless your by yourself or with one person.
Fast, Convenient, Quirky. The fast service (dine-in or takeout), convenient location (for folks in Los Feliz, that is) and quirky menu make California Roll a welcome weekly ritual for me. The Mikimono combination (california roll, salmon tempura roll and those little rice dumpling things) is my default for takeout. But there are so many fun, flavorful shushi options that dining in is always a good time too. The place is tiny but well-run. The "sidewalk" seeting basically puts you in the Albertson's parking lot, so I'd recommend a table inside, preferably in the far left corner.
