The Scene – Bowling-alley fashion sense, classic Hollywood charm and a chrome toaster on every table make Fred 62 the hippest place in town to get your chow on. – – The Food – Expect creative riffs on comfort foods served up with funny names. Witness the golden, velvet Mac Daddy and Cheese, the towering ham and swiss of the Charles Bukowski, and the fluffy pancake, crisp-tender hash browns, ultra-crisp bacon and filling eggs of the Dime Bag. For arterial redemption, try one of the Japanese sobas: The Bang Bang's sweet fire of plum and hot pepper sauces makes it a…

ambiance

  1. Nice decor, worth checking out of curiosity, or if it's 5 in the morning.
  2. The decor is interesting, but that thrill is over in 3 minutes.
  3. The scene is amazing and I always feel very comfortable here.
  4. Sure there may be a little wait, but the servers are super fun, especially Emily who is quite possibly the happiest waitress alive, and the food is always yumolicious.
  5. great variety of food, fun place!
  6. Casual atmosphere, friendly service, big menu with lots to c.
  7. The food was tasty enough, but the atmosphere and crowd made it a less than fun night out.
  8. The food is amazing and ambiance like the food is very eclectic.
  9. It's also in a convenient location, just down the street is the Los Feliz 3 movie theatre, Skylight Books, and House of Pies.
  10. The ambience is casual and perfect for late night snacks - those late night places that actually have good food are hard to find in L.A.
  11. My biggest complaint would be the parking can be pretty bad.
  12. We love everything about this diner -- the cool and unique ambiance, the hipster waitstaff, and the delicous food.
  13. Im fine with waiting here cause the food is good, the music beats Denny's, and the atmosphere is fun (mostly fun to poke fun at).
dessert
71.4300012588501% positive
  1. The food is overpriced and you are excessively overcharged for extras (items like cheese, sour cream, onions).
  2. Not as good as that sinful waffle dessert we were eyeing.
  3. The food is mediocre, but the brazilian waffle desert thing is good.
  4. The soup is usually amazing, just not the cream of mushroom.
  5. While the food actually pretty good - I recommend the dime bag for breakfast (2 of everything greased to perfections) the mac n cheese for lunch, and the caramel, ice cream, decadent waffle for dessert - the lines can quickly turn the experience sour and
  6. My favorite is the burgers, especially the Patty Melt, and for dessert the waffle with ice cream and chocolate sauce.
  7. Everything from root beer floats to amazing omlettes to hamburgers to red velvet cake.

  2. Everything from root beer floats to amazing omlettes to hamburgers to red velvet cake.
  3. But if you live in the neighborhood or just yearning for that Los Feliz/Silverlake charm, find yourself a booth, bring a newspaper and order yourself up some good 'ol scrambled eggs, coffee and toast (ahh, the best).

  8. The rest of the time, you're stuck with re-invented Hollywood-ized food that's overpriced for what it is.
  9. The only problem is that all the tables are small so our party had to sit separately but the food was awesome.
  10. Yeah, someday somewill somewhere (well, somewhere on the Eastside) will open the perfect restaurant, where you can get bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, customer-is-always-right service; delicious food for cheap prices and a hip vibe all in the immediate pre-daw

You had me at Santa Fe Frittata

by littletree323

All I gotta say is Santa Fe Frittata! An open faced omelet with chorizo, roasted pastilla chilies, grilled onions, diced tomato, tortilla chips & jack cheese, topped with ranchero habanero sauce, scallions, cilantro and sour cream - to die for and it's only $10.

My friend had the Cali California omelet which was sooo good, I stole a bite.

The service was fast and the staff was friendly.

We will be back hopefully soon cause there are so many other dishes I want to try!

Posers, Awful Service, "Lesbians Eat Out"???!!!! WTF!?

by Jojo333

Absolutely the most poser-esque place in the area besides Millie's except Millie's is NOT TRYING TO BE COOL...they just are. Imagine, 6, yes 6 guys standing around in a corner, all Mexican guys doing nothing but yakking it up at the counter at the top of their lungs....one of which wearing a shirt provided by establishment that reads, "Lesbians Eat Out", the other guy has one that reads, "Rehab Is For Quitters", another, "Got Beer". Yes, nifty I suppose....if you're not a Lesbian and you didn't go to rehab and ya don't mind their mindless pow wow in the corner that supersedes all other conversations....even the patrons. Slapping each other on the back, saying "F That Brother" and "Sh#t ya man...did you see what he was wearing? Hahahahaaa...". Paid $15 w/o tax or tip for some horrible Deli noodle soup shrimp thing that tasted like it was made in the back alley with a bunsen burner that you use while camping. Seriously, if u r a poser and like to show off your fancy new tattoo, spend your $ elsewhere that at least doesn't rape you with poor service, poor food, and subject you to 6 guys wearing classless shirts that, in some way, are trying to be "cool" and that love to have a good old weenie rub in the corner at the expense of diners trying to relax. Not cool, not hip, no good. Pose somewhere else BUT NOT AT FRED 62 on Hillhurst.

No tip no service

by Nancy1334

after 10 years of going to this resturaunt I loved the food, its in my area, and its open 24/7. The service is horrible. Its apparently an "industry-service" and the waiters can decide whether or not to serve you based on whether or not you've tipped before (I always tip, in cash and more than deserved but if its not more than a 5 buck tip you should be weary of the service). Sadly, I wont be returning and niether will many of my long time friends and regulars of this resturaunt. Its a shame when service like this is allowed at a good(food wise) resturaunt. As far as I knew, tips are optional based on service.

  • Pros: good food, brunch and the new waitress is nice
  • Cons: premadonna waiter/night manager, tipping not optional
