I've been told they're doing new stuff over at Fred 62 but I've always relied on it for a good meal before midnight. Everyone raves about their Mac daddy and cheese balls.

This place is perfect when you've had a little too much to drink and need something to eat at 3am.

Fried mac and cheese balls.. so good you'll come back when you're sober to eat it! Open late for your late night cravings!

One of my favorite spots in Los Feliz any time of day. Great for a comforting diner style breakfast and great for a late night bite. Their shakes are incredible, their pancakes perfect and their fried Mac n cheese balls are sinful!

Best diner breakfast in LA. I love this place so much it hurts. Yes, I tend to get the same thing over and over, but it's just so good! Fred's breakfasts are so delish, and sure, while they may not be as cheap as Denny's (but then what is?) $6 and some change for a fresh egg breakfast sandwich ain't too bad. The New Amsterdam with cheese is great. The Bearded Mr. Frenchy is super sweet, but excellent. The burgers aren't the best in the world, but always manage to control my need to fast food without being too horribly greasy. Haven't tried the noodle dishes, but I hear they're good too. What you have to remember about this place is that it's a DINER, people. It's not going to be some fancy-shmancy restaurant serving extravagant meals. I eat there almost once a week and have maybe had one or two bad meals. The wait staff is always great -- even on busy Saturday mornings. My biggest complaint would be the parking can be pretty bad. But it IS Los Feliz...

Too Cool For School. Way to expensive, Way too hip. The food is mediocre, but the brazilian waffle desert thing is good.

Delicious food, big portions. I moved to LA and had been waiting to try this place. Yes, it's hip, trendy, whatever.. but it is wayyy better than Cafe 101 and Swingers. I got the battered tuna salad sandwich and it was delicious...crispy and tasty. The bossa nova waffle is also amazing. Finally a diner type restaurant worth all the hype. I'll be back there soon!

Rude Rude Rude Hipster servers. Uggh when is someone going to get a clue and realize that the whole I am so cool thing isn't fooling anyone. I waited tables in my 20s and made a ton of cash by having a personality, yes I was cute too but I didnt act like an $#@hole

We had what was apparently "calamari". Tasted like cardboard, over cooked and served by a %#^ty waitress who took out our desset before our food.

The best diner in the west!. We love everything about this diner -- the cool and unique ambiance, the hipster waitstaff, and the delicous food. Everything from root beer floats to amazing omlettes to hamburgers to red velvet cake.....so delicous. Try the homemade pop tarts -- they'll rock your world!

No matter what time of day, Fred 62 is the diner to be.

Great food!. I love this place and have been going there for several years. The food is good. My favs are the Juicy Lucy Burger, Pancake Tatin and the California omelet. There are a couple of things on the menu that I tried and haven't liked but truthfully I don't hold it against them because my favs have always been consistently amazing and their selection is so wide. There are way more hits than misses. I noticed in a previous review that someone commented on the service and I agree. Last night, my friend and I were there sitting, eating and talking an we felt a little like the waiter was rushing us to leave even though there wasn't anyone waiting for a table. Furthermore, I have also had the experience where they made us wait outside while waiting for a table and it was raining at the time. Not cool. However, even though it is really crowded on the weekends I keep going back because the food is so good.

Everything you could hope for from a 24-hour diner at the epicenter of cool.. The Scene
Bowling-alley fashion sense, classic Hollywood charm and a chrome toaster on every table make Fred 62 the hippest place in town to get your chow on.

The Food
Expect creative riffs on comfort foods served up with funny names. Witness the golden, velvet Mac Daddy and Cheese, the towering ham and swiss of the Charles Bukowski, and the fluffy pancake, crisp-tender hash browns, ultra-crisp bacon and filling eggs of the Dime Bag. For arterial redemption, try one of the Japanese sobas: The Bang Bang's sweet fire of plum and hot pepper sauces makes it a standout. The best thing about 62's soggy fries is their presentation in an origami-folded brown paper bag. Finish off with a Punk Tart (homemade Pop Tart), bursting with fresh fruit and near lethal amounts of sugar, and you'll be ready to stay up with the area writers.

Cheap eats; lots of attitude. The shame is, this place used to be great. Okay food; open late; all comers welcome. Recently the attitude of the entire staff has significantly deteriorated. It's gone from laid-back and welcoming to rude and obnoxious. Basically, if you're over 30 or don't have sufficent piercings and ink, they make it very clear that you're not worth their effort. And now they have "rules." Recently, on a particularly cold evening, they wouldn't allow my guest and I (the only two waiting for a table) to stand inside the door. Instead, they insisted that we wait outside in the cold. Really nice and friendly (particularly since I've been going to the place on a semi-regular bais since it opened). The change in attitude leaves you to focus on the food and it really can't take the scrutiny. Overall, I'd stick to the other restaurants on Vermont.

Great late night eats. A full menu, with a variety of food to choose from. Been there a couple times, and I've never been disappointed. Surprisingly one of my favorites at this spot is the japanese UDON shrimp noodle soup. Who would've thought it would be good from an all american diner? not bad at all! I always get stuffed and never disappointed from the bill. Great place when you're craving good diner food late night.
