Where lowbrow trash culture and fine art collide..
In Short
Scenesters knew Melrose was going downhill when Billy Shire moved his novelty shop Wacko and its adjoining gallery La Luz de Jesus back to the hipper Eastside. Even though the Los Feliz address should be clear indication, this ain't no snooty Westside gallery. You'll have to wade through Wacko's dense aisles of amazing toys and eccentric geegaws to get to the art trove. Monthly openings draw capacity crowds of lowbrow art aficionados.

Cheap Thrills.
The monthly art openings at this lowbrow gallery used to be the first happening stop of an Eastside weekend. (Might have been 'cause they always had a couple kegs.) Though it's not as happening these days, it's worth a stop when there's an interesting show or book signing.
