In Short
Nestled in a wooded canyon in beautiful Griffith Park is one of L.A.'s best places to take in a concert. Outstanding acoustics are part of the draw, as is the intimate setting--just over 6,000 seats, and each with a great view of the action. Concerts run only during the summer months, but the varied lineup means there's something for everyone. Sting, Tina Turner and Bonnie Raitt have headlined, as have international acts like the Gypsy Kings.

In my opinion, The Greek should have been rated # 1 in the Best Of! The forest backdrop of Griffith Park is GORGEOUS, the wonderful ambiance reminds me why I love living in a state where we can have outdoor concerts 365 days/year! The theater itself is small so even the worst seat in the house is still pretty close to the stage. And yeah, the stacked parking isn't great, but it's NOTHING compared to H'Wood Bowl stacked parking (And hey, this is LA, haven't we endured worse for parking?) I wish more artists would come to the Greek, it's truly an awesome experience!

My complaint is about the food. I recommend ordering one of the three food baskets a couple of days before the show you're going to see since the food choices at the Greek are not the best and they are relatively expensive. I've gone at least two times where the food was at best, average...I recently went to the UB-40/English Beat/Elan concert and my husband's bagel was not fresh, the chicken "tenders" were oversalted, as were the french fries. After spending so much money you'd think they'd bother to use the best, why not Nathan's hot dogs or something with some class?!!! Other than that I pretty much enjoyed the concert, the bathrooms are always clean and there are enough of them. We didn't even have a problem with leaving out of the stacked parking this time!

We attended the Greek Theatre for A Prairie Home Companion show on June 8, 2007. Our seats were located in the back, which should have been fine because it is a nice venue. However, machinery located directly behind and above us prevented us from hearing the show! Complaints were completely ignored. I do not recommend the Greek Theatre.
