Editorial Review for Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory – by Cadien Clark
In Short
Based in Durango, Colo., this chocolatier has been packaging sweetness since 1981. Over 300 candies and confectionery products, like the famous "Bear"--a paw-sized concoction of chewy caramel, roasted nuts and heavy chocolate--have made the Crail family business an international success. Mountainous mounds of clusters, caramels, creams and truffles are just some of the ready-made treats available in stores and online. In-store candy-making demonstrations using copper kettles and gas-fired stoves are also popular.

Located in the Arrowhead Village shopping area, Rocky Mountain is always jam-packed with sweets and with customers. This location lacks the glitz of newer mall stores, but what it lacks in charm it makes up for in variety and probably sales. The large window out front showcases the multitude of dipped apples from the standard caramel apple to chocolate chip apples and more. They have a good variety of old-fashioned chocolates and much, much more. Even on a cool day over the past weekend, they were selling ice cream, coffee, apples and chocolates. You can get out of there with just a single piece of candy or a bagful depending on your craving and budget!
Pros: Selection, Location, Efficient At Handling The Hoards
Cons: Patience Needed; It's Crowded
