full drivers, overpriced tour, awesome myspace, great public transportation system, expensive dress, good english, not good value
Worst Service I ever experienced...........
Terrible. This company is one of the worst I have ever dealt with. Took the one day tour for $94. Driver demanded $35 in tips for just me. Says if was mandatory. Worse then the Mafia...
Thats 35% of the ticket price.... Very rude and pushy people.... Use any other company then these thugs.....
Just awful. Our family had a terrible experience with this company. It was a huge waste of our time and money, and all we can do is advise people not to make the same mistake. The service was horrible, tour was alright. This company should not be allowed to take any money from people.
AVOID THIS LIKE THE PLAGUE.
What a shocking, absolute mess of a company. These people wasted five hours of our lives (myself, my step-mother, and my 14 year old sister) for a tour that was meant to be two hours. When we booked our tickets for the tour of the star's homes online, we chose to be picked up at our hotel at 11:10. After waiting until 11:30, we phoned the company and asked why they hadn't picked us up yet. Oh, it must be traffic, we promise it will be there in ten minutes was their reply. HALF AN HOUR LATER there was still no one to pick us up, and when we called again we were told more garbage about traffic. At this point they were nearly an hour late.
The company, after much debate, agreed that we could take a cab from our hotel to the Chinese Theatre downtown, where we were promised a representative would be there to pay the cab, which we were certainly not about to pay for. Of course, when we arrived there was no one. We had to pay the cabbie, find a company representative after waiting in line, and then be told that they DON"T PAY CAB FARES. About ready to lose my mind at this point, we informed them that the person we spoke to on the phone said they would. To make a long story short, they eventually paid most of the cab fare and then shoved us off to the side to wait for our bus. Which then proceeded to leave without us. We were finally put on a bus, where we had to wait another 20 minutes because they had left half our group in the bathrooms with no directions as to how to get to the bus.
When we finally pulled out, the last poor people who had arrived had been shoved on the bus in places that weren't even seats- the guy in front of me had to sit half on a seat, with half his butt resting on nothing but air for the entire two hours.
Tour itself was average. You see a couple houses up close (usually celebrities who are long dead), and a lot of, "See that window way up on that hill? Why that's Tom Cruise's window!". Our tour guide, Bob, was a perfectly good tour guide, but at this point our experience had been largely ruined by sheer ineptness. We were expected to tip $20 a person for the tour at the end (after paying over $40 each), and then were expected to tip the shuttle that was meant to deliver us to the hotel, "in half an hour, maybe an hour" as the driver told us, in true Starline fashion. We wasted more of our money and just took a cab back. We arrived home past 4pm, for a tour that was meant to start at 11:20. Thank goodness we hadn't made plans for after the tour.
PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS.
The Biggest Scam of your Entire Life. If you enjoy being scammed, take a Starline Bust Tour. I spent $37 for a creepy man with an annoying sense of humor to drive me around for an hour and 15 minutes. The tour was supposed to be for two hours. We stopped at a yellow house on Lexington Drive in Beverly Hills, which the tour guide said was a new six month old house built by Jennifer Lopez. The house is actually owned by a man with the name J. Lopez, who is infact not JLo. Also, be aware there are different routes the buses take, so if you are dying to see a particular star's home and they take another route, well your just out of luck. After paying $37 and feeling really ripped-off, i had to pay another $10 for parking. What a waste of money and time.
Glimpse into the lifestyles (and homes) of Hollywood's rich and famous..
Hollywood celebs may rise and fall, but fortunately for fans their houses remain standing. The perennially popular tour of stars' homes gives Susie Sightseer and Tommy Tourist a chance to get close to their favorite actors. Keep in mind that superstars usually don't take out their own trash, so the odds of seeing Harrison Ford, Nicolas Cage or Barbra Streisand--all of whom own homes on the tour route--are slim to none.
Little Larry & Richard. We're from the East Coast. Our introduction was to sit on the tour bus with Little Larry chatting with Richard who was our tour bus driver. Little Larry.....What an excellent person....excellent personna....REALLY. The tour was a hoot, Richard a character, Little Larry, had another tour so left us. Great tour. Laughed alot. An unfortunate thing did happen, not as far as the tour, but as far as having our 16 year old daughter with us & her abscentmindness. She was so excited to get to LA & the Gruman Chinese theater area...she bought an expensive dress in one of the boutiques on the plaza with her own hard earned money. In our excitement of looking for STARS & their homes, she forgot her package on the tour bus. We didn't realize it until we left LA to Newport Beach. My daughter freaked out! I called Starline tours & they said they'd look into it. Now....Little Larry...he gave us his card. I called Larry during the evening. Larry, God Bless his soul, talked to me, remembered us, and said he'd call That night & help us out!!!!!!!! And so he did...as promised...he went over & beyond to help us!!!!! And did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He had personally called Richard & confirmed that our bag was there & then gave me instructions on how I could retrieve the bag. Larry was kind, helpful beyond the call of duty, easy to talk to, and I could go on & on about how, even his attitude helped our situation. The story ends positively. Thank you All, especially Larry - check out his myspace - awesome!!!!!!! and Starline Tours, Richard & Mary!!!! Our LA experience was fantastic! We met so many good people in this little scenerio...all Starline tours! God Bless you Little Larry! You are GREAT!!!!!!
Get it with the CityPass, and ask for Little Larry to be your tour guide. First of all, it was great that it was cheaper with the citypass, because everything in Hollywood seemed like you had to have some kind of coupon to afford it. It was really great that the bus was air conditioned, and wasnt over crowded. The Best thing about the whole trip was our guide, Little Larry, we went at the beginning of June when he was on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, from our experience, he was fun, upbeat, and excited to show us everything. You can see Larry's site at World Wide Web address myspace com/littlelarry25 Some of the places we saw where the Beverly Hillbillies mansions, the Osbournes home, Madonnas home, Sylvester Stalones house, and a bunch more it really is 2 hours,as far as hotel pickup, we just met them at Graumans and had no problem. Hollywood has a great public transportation system, we were there for a week and rode the bus everywhere with no problems.
Hotel pickup and drop off. The tour went very well, but the service afterward was highly unprofessional and below the standard that any company should be operating under. Before the tour they provide a service to pick you at the hotel and take you to the chinese restaurant where it starts. After the tour the bus service provides drop off. And oh boy what a horrible experience. After driving through hectic traffic jam on sunset blvd, and on the way to our first drop off, they decide to turn around because two idiots got on the wrong bus. Inconvience everyone else that had to be there for some tourist who got on the wrong bus. Ridiculous, and a complete waste of time it took another hour and a half to get back to our hotel.
DO NOT USE STARLINE TOURS!. Poor customer service; signs on all the buses basically begging for tips; rude employees; overpriced tours and not good value - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY.
Van to star homes.
I was in L.A. at the end of June 2001and went on the Starline Tours. I really enjoyed it, was shown alot of Star's homes. Was it worth the money? I would say yes, since it was at least two hours worth. Two big problems were that the van we were in was too small especially in the back where I sat. Also the tour guide was vey hard to hear and understand. Sorry but if you are going to have that kind of job, please be able to speak good english.
Another small problem was that the van was not the right kind of vehicle to see very good out of. It sits to high up.
Other than that, if was very enjoyable seeing beautiful L.A and surrounding areas.
