good but not dazzling. Now, I know I went there on the Friday after Thanksgiving with a large party and a small baby, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The soup was cold, and the service was always playing catch-up. I looked over to the table to my left and the pasta that that man was eating was giant and beautiful, so I ordered it. He must have been an regular, because my serving was half that. It was delicious, and it was enough food, but still....

Even with my complaints, the oysters were excellent and the staff did seem to care. I'd like to go back and try it again.

Grab a seat on this Hollywood patio for prime stargazing and decent California fare.. The Scene
The restaurant is never packed, even on a Saturday night, but the waiter will swear Keanu was just sitting in the corner the day before. The dining room and cozy bar are comfy, but the lush, twinkling patio is a lot more fun. At lunch, Paramount studio types abound, so if you wait long enough, Keanu just might wander back.

The Food
Despite being another outpost of the Patina empire, the California-French menu can be a tad uneven. Some appetizers are lackluster, such as the "crispy" crab roll (a glorified fried spring roll) and over-vinegary (and overpriced) conch escabeche. Instead, start with a delightful bite of langoustine, and then fill up on the more generous entrees. The robust, oak-grilled swordfish, wrapped in bacon, is cooked to sultry perfection, and flavorful Colorado lamb sirloin nestles in a veritable forest of mushroom ragout. Porcini ravioli with ahi and buttery Chilean sea bass are also hits.

So What . . .. At first sight, one would say this place looks as inviting and intriguing as it's counter-part Cafe Pinot in Downtown. Unfortunately, the similarities cease once you walk through the door.

Seating: We were seated on a bench seat elbow-to-elbow with two other parties (nice touch). We asked to be reseated, but the manager insisted there wasn't anything else available (oh, except for the 6 other tables inside and out on the patio).

Service: Our waiter was nice, but definitely uninterested, once we received our food he didn't return until it was time to pay.

Food: I ordered a ribeye steak and asked for it rare. When the food came out it was about 1/4 inch thick and close to medium-well (low quality meat). Everything was over salted as well. Not impressed.

Overall: Save your $$$, there are much better places for half the cost.

Great Experience!. Terrific ambiance, outstanding service, and great food. Very nice menu.

I had the Tuna and it was simply delicious! It was prepared very creatively and the presentation was excellent. I was not able to sample the deserts.

I would definitely return.
