What People Are Saying About Ike Sushi

In Short – The prime seats at this small, unpretentious strip-mall eatery are tucked under the bar, where guests sit to discuss the freshest options directly with the friendly chef. Twenty- and 30-something locals join industry types who come for unique sushi selections like flying fish egg and Canadian clam. The soft-shell crab plate is a favored appetizer. Sushi combinations are popular, as is the toro tuna, which is often on special.
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- In addition to the onsite parking lot, free one-hour street parking is available on Hollywood, east of Gower, but it's restricted after 9pm on weekends and 1:30am on weekdays. Read signs carefully if parking late.
- Save Money:
- Ordering combination sushi plates is cheaper than ordering a la carte. There's even a combo that includes the flying fish egg specialty.

Best food in town

Best food in town
Food is amazing. Every time I come here, I feel like I never want to leave. Very chic atmosphere with a relaxing mood.
The service is great and the staff really does a terrific job at taking care of you.
The appetizers are delicious.
Theres plenty of places to park: theres a parking lot across the street and a parkin garage up the street within walking distance.
Most of the time I find myself looking at my watch waiting for the food to come, but here I was so entertained with the fun atmosphere that I was pleasantly surprised when my food arrived
Ick

The ambience is lousy. Our table was near the back and occassionally fishy odors wafted our way. Some of our sushi was good, most was average to mediocre. The toro was bad - not fresh. We told the waiter and a minute later head chef Ike called to our table (on the wall not at the bar), "What's wrong?" forcing me to make my complaint publicly. "The toro isn't fresh," I answered, as gently as I could. "What do mean?" Ike barked. What did he think I meant? "It doesn't taste fresh." Again: "What do you mean?" Really? A sushi chef doesn't know what not fresh means? I didn't want to shout it across the restaurant, but it tasted fishy, like day-old supermarket sushi. Ike snarled that nobody else complained and that was the end of it. No apologies, no offer of substitution, and no refund for $30 of uneaten toro.
I like a colorful character, but I don't like bad fish. If you're going to be a sushi nazi, you better deliver some great sushi. Otherwise you're just a jerk.
- Pros: some of the fish was decent
- Cons: some of it wasn't. also - rude chef, bad ambience.
Best Hollywood Sushi Place

I love this little gem on Gower and Hollywood. Try the medium Toro tuna sushi. Mmmmm Good. It is run by the owner so you know it is clean and the fish is always fresh. Nice clean little restaurant. Try the Albacore with their custom sauce. Really nice treat.
Parking is a bit tight at times during lunch but at dinner it is never an issue.
Great sushi-way overpriced
by LAfoodGuy
Used to be a huge fan of this place but recently had a horrible experience. The sushi is always great. However, I was charged $50 for one order of grilled octopus, one order of salmon sashimi, and one order of cut roll toro. I know the octopus is expensive but come on. I have been there many times and had twice as much for the same price. I didn't even order alcohol this time. It used to be a secret and now since the Hollywood Big shots go there, they are starting to overcharge. Vince Vaughn once took my table from me there! They also don't itemize their bills and get upset if you ask them to or ask for an explanation. Used to be a secret, now it has prices that rival Katana and Koi, except Ike has no atmosphere. It is a dump with no seating or parking. At least at the Beverly Hills joints you get some service and a bill with consistent prices. Be prepared to pay $50 per person. The golden days of this place are over.
- Pros: Great sushi
- Cons: Overpriced, No parking, No seating, No ambiance, Dumpy Location, Sketchy Bill
Spotted Celebs Here

And the food was good too :). But the likes of hollywood's elite Anand Bhatt, Mike Patton, and Alicia Keys were spotted and were friendly too. I think the atmosphere helps with their comfort level
