What People Are Saying About Miceli's

In Short – Sating Hollywood's carb cravings since 1949, this venerable institution is a classic homage to red-checked tablecloths and hearty Italian-American food. As an added bonus, the servers take turns playing the piano and belting out show tunes to the delight of diners looking on from three levels. Miceli's menu is a freeze-frame of 1950's red-sauce Italian joints. The chicken piccata swims in a lemon garlic sauce, and pasta dishes are massive. The lively crowd is filled with celebrating families, couples and Hollywood folks who love kitsch.
Editor's Tips
- Parking:
- Valet is the best bet for popular weekend nights.
- The Extras:
- On your way out, diners can ask the host for the black marker and sign their completed bottle of Chianti which the staff will hang from the rafters to commemorate the visit.

Review your bill carefully!

The waitstaff are all wanna be theatre people and most of them have major attitude problems. You get the feeling they're taking it on you because they are serving food instead of walking the red carpet.
What really bothers me though is the fact that the bill always seems just ever so slightly padded. For example, I usually pay $5.50 for a small side of spaghetti, but today, it was suddenly $8.50. The waitress explained that (surprise!!) the price went up -- from last week?? Also, on more than one occasion, I find that an 18% gratuity is automatically added onto the bill which would be expected for a large party (say 5 people or more), but a party of 3??
Not A Pleasant Experience!!!

I visited this restaurant with a $25.00 certificate that was given to me. When we received the bill, I thought that I had left plenty of $$$$ for the bill and tip. However, I was wrong!! I was hunted down in the parking lot and asked for an additional $5.00 for tip. I was embarassed and humiliated!! A wonderful dining experience turned into a nightmere.
- Pros: Great Food, Nice Singing!!
- Cons: Do not bring any kind of coupon!!!!!

sorry but had to write a review... yes everyone is right. The food is awlful.. This is a restaurant! One of the number one priority must be the food! Pizza was crusty and didn't taste good. The marinara sauce wasnt good. The fried plater was tasteless....please please managment.. this is a restaurant! Not an italian cafe. Get some fresh mozzerall bruchetta, caprese, fresh product ingrediants! Make your pasta homemade! Make homemade FRESH food!! Your stuff is cafeteria quality. Please management fix this!!!!!
- Pros: service
- Cons: food
Great place to meet up with friends and enjoy great food!

Miceli's is one of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. The Italian food is great, the servers grab the mic and sing a song in between taking your order and delivering your food, and as long as you have a reservation...you won't wait too long for a table (just make sure that your entire party is there on time - or you won't get a seat). Miceli's is a fun place to take friends who might be visiting from out of town, or simply to grab a great meal whenever you'd like. Mangia!
- Pros: Singing servers
- Cons: Long wait without a reservation
If you like Italian food there are better alternatives.

When you walk into a place like Miceli's which has live music from the servers, you would expect a great authentic Italian meal. The atmosphere says this, but the food and the service do not. The calamari was dull and bready, marsala sauce was thick and the linguine with clams was good, but looked like it was a soup with the amount of oil and butter in it. Our server was basically a bus boy and didn't suggest anything and seemed to be more interested in singing her broadway musicals( That was the type of music all the servers sang that night) than taking care for her tables. I would recommend Tony's on Lankershim and actually Macaroni Grill over Miceli's anyday for the food. Micelli's has one thing going for it and that is the ability for large parties.
- Pros: Good atmospehre, ability for large parties
- Cons: Food, Service
