Editorial Review for The Ruby – by Shivon V. Tuoni
In Short
The Ruby's four different rooms with individual soundtracks make it perfect for people who like a sampling of sounds. Depending on the night, music can range from gothic and industrial to '80s tunes and futuristic techno beats. You won't find much in the way of decor or places to sit, but everyone is really here to dance anyway. If you'd rather have a drink, the lines are never long at the four bars, since The Ruby is an 18-and-over club.

amazing!! I go to BEAT IT every sunday night! They have awesome 80's music which is so fun when you go with your girlfriends! I always meet the coolest people there too! If you go to their website you get in free most weeks with a print out pass. I always find parking on the street and getting in is always quick and efficient. The drinks aren't too pricey comparing other clubs and the bartenders are really nice. If you want a night out with the girls to get dressed up and have a good time this is the place. However i only go sunday nights so i dont know how the other nights are. The guys arent pushy if you dont wanna dance with them and you will have a good time no matter what. I've been going there every sunday since september and it is still the highlight of my week!
Pros: free most weeks, great people, great music
Cons: none!

For 18+, I'd heard this place was about as good as it gets. My friends and I needed somewhere to go dancing on a thursday night, so decided to check it out. After dropping an hour's drive time and a $13 dollar cover, turns out thursday night is goth/industrial at the ruby. People were dancing slow-mo matrix style, decked out in black, leather, and chains S&M style. When we asked the bouncer if this was a special event or something, he scoffed and said, "It's ALWAYS been like this," and proceeded to make fun of us to his bouncer friend as we walked out. Moral of the story: don't go during the week. Unadvertised special themed nights go on, and none of it is broadcasted via the internet. NO REVIEW ANYWHERE warned us of this. I'm here to fix that.
