The Real Deal for Exotic Ice Cream in the Heart of H'Wood. Rumor has it that Mashti’s is the oldest ice cream join in Hollywood. That’s why its such a surprise that so many people haven’t tried it out. Then again, the fact that it’s in one of the sketchier late night mini-malls around might have something to do with it. But braving the local color and uber-tight parking lot more than pays off once you get a taste of the homemade Persian frozen delicacies like Safron Rosewater Ice Cream (their signature). Personally, I’m a fan of the more plain jane flavors like pistachio and chocolate chip – especially in the awesome “Clone Cone” form (a Clown Cone with another cone placed on top) – which have the natural flavors and creaminess you really want if you’re gonna take a Fro Yo break and splurge the calories on the real thing. If either Mashti – or his brother Mehdi – are there, introduce yourself and they’ll be more than happy to chat you up with the history of ice cream in Persia/Iran and how the unique rosewater-based flavors they specialize in.

I want more. Great ice cream at a wonderful price. I wish they had more locations. I got exactly what I wanted at a cheaper price than most places.

Excellent exotic ice cream!. I heard this place from Channel 9! I decided to order from their website. It melts in your mouth and the taste lingers! I hopefully can visit the store soon!

The Best Ice Cream Anywhere. Started by brothers Mashti and Meddhi (spelling?) using old Iranian recipes (they put Rosewater in some of their flavors), this is by far the best ice cream shop experience you will ever have. This is the real deal folks. You will never want frozen yogurt again. You have to try their Ginger ice cream - so creamy and spicy/sweet - it's the best! I also love their Orange Blossom ice cream. Sure, they still have the more familiar flavors - I especially love the Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. If you're lucky one of the owners will be there - they are both real friendly. We have been there before when one of the owners passed out free samples of special middle eastern delicacies (candy, etc.). This is a very special place. If you love ice cream , then you need to try this place out.

Unique flavor perhaps.... ...but ice creams that taste like flowers is not my idea of a great dessert. I would not have given a poor rating based on just that, however. My reason for rating this place as I have is that it is NOT clean and service was just so-so. The overall feel of the place is that it's old and not kept. Signage shows age and dust. We had to wipe the table we sat at. We got our ice creams from the "not particularly friendly" attendant (we were the only customers there), and then he disappeared into the back of the store. If you're taking your ice cream to go and are in the mood for floral flavors, this may be the place for you. If you like to sit and enjoy your ice cream in a clean enviroment, I'd advise skipping Mashti Malone's.
