great food, always great service, friendly attentive staff, enjoyed chinese chicken salad, huge generous portions, attentive server, good energy
Well, I would give it a 4 star rating, but it is Closed, shutdown, Gone...
Shocked to find it out. What else can I say...wish it had not.
Surprisingly fresh and tasty food!!!. I have to say, i expected just another yummy greasy spoon-type diner when my hub and i went here for saturday brunch recently. And, while the atmosphere is definitley casual diner with no frills, the food was beyond expectations! I had the breakfast burrito, which was fab with no potatoes (yay!), lots of black beans, eggs, cheese, and fresh avocado on top... super tasty with spanish rice. But the real winner was the salad (cobb or chef - can never remember which is which) that my husband had. Big chunks of bacon, blue cheese, avocado, on a bed of spinach and iceberg, with a big freshly cooked chicken breast on top. He literally said it was the best salad he ever had. Though there was a slightly long wait, they seated us quickly and service was fast and efficient.
Service Great...Food and atmosphere Not so Great.
I'd been wanting to try Eat Well since I moved to Silver Lake a couple of months ago. You would think from the long wait that the food would be incredible! I had the Buddah Bowl that another user had said was her favorite. Let me tell you, there is nothing special here. The tofu tasted old and the beens were almost tasteless despite the liberal, dry curry or all spice...not sure what, sprinkled on top at the end. I was also a little surprised by the prices, since the atmosphere of where I was sitting left a little to be desired. I was in between dirty bins of dishes being loudly thrown around, with a bell ringing out of control from the kitchen and a customer swatting flies with his news paper. And why do restaurants charge the same amount for a prefab veggie burger as they do for beef burger? I will never understand this.
On the other hand, service was great! Everyone at Eat Well is sincerely nice, which is rare for a place this hip. Maybe I'll go for breakfast next time, if there is a next time.
Best breakfast in Silverlake. I have never had a bad experience at Eat Well. My food has always been terrific, I order the same dish every time. The Buddah Bowl. It is so good, and enough food to fill you up and save the rest for lunch. Not to mention healthy! I would come here everyday if I didnt work so far away. My only wish is that they would open for dinner!
Did not live up to its name.... Unfortunately, I have to say that I did not "eat well" here. My husband and I visited for the first time last Sunday afternoon. We saw that the restaurant was pretty packed, and we figured a place this popular must be for a good reason. After a fairly short wait, we were seated at the outdoor seating area on the sidewalk which was very pleasant. It was all downhill from there. It took our waiter, a pretty young guy, FOREVER, just to take our order. Then after he took our order, we had to wait around 45 min. to get our food. This is somewhat understandable if the restaurant is packed, but by this time, the crowd had thinned out considerably. I don't know what can possibly take so long to make a club sandwich and sausage scramble. Come to think of it, it probably didn't take that long to make and was just sitting on the counter for a long time because when the food finally came out, my scamble and biscuit with gravy was frigid! Horrible! Not to mention that the eggs in the scramble were over cooked. Needless to say, we won't be eating there again. Luckily, the Cheesestore was right next door and we popped by there and had a wonderful experience!
Globally inspired comfort food served in an always-bustling neighborhood eatery..
This hipped-up diner teems with folks looking for cheap meals--especially weekend breakfasts. Each location has a distinctive vibe, and casual servers let patrons take their time to order and eat. The menu features comfort food with worldwide influences, such as the Big Mess, a heap of cayenne-spiced potatoes with sausage, spinach, mushrooms, zucchini and scrambled eggs. For lunch, a highlight is the Buddha Bowl, a subtly seasoned dish of sauteed vegetables, tofu, rice and beans.
Great food, good variety. Good food, good service, good range of food. I personally luv the poached eggs with the hollandaise sauce and canadian bacon. The hollandaise sauce is made very well. I also like the pancakes, they are just right - not too flat not to fluffy and it has that slight wheat flavour. The veggie omelet is great too. Most dishes are heavy portions so bring your apetite b/c there will definitely be leftovers. This place is crowded and with good reason. Luv the restaurant not so much the type of people that go there, it kind of ruins the ambience for me - so my husband & I do not go as often as we used to.
I LOVE THIS PLACE. My friends and I used to go every Saturday morning for breakfast. I quit my job and can't afford to eat out now. But I think fondly of this place. The service was always great. We had a favorite waitress that would come over and chat with us even when we weren't at one of her tables. The breakfast burritos are awesome! Everything there is awesome actually. I take everyone new to LA there. My mom even took me and all my friends there for easter breakfast. The place is rad. Dog friendly. Kid friendly.
Friendly staff and consistently satisfying American cuisine.
I will say first that its the staff that sets this American diner apart from its contemporaries. Ultra-hip without the pretense, their attitude welcomes you into the "regulars crowd" even upon your first visit.
Although the ambiance is rather unremarkable, the Silverlake clientele is colorful enough to catch your eye (or both eyes) and renders the joint a diverse community institution.
As for food, expect huge portions of standard diner fare with many more health conscious options for the local vegan/vegetarian population. I had the Buddha Bowl last time, a textural melange of breakfast delights such as potatoes, tofu, bean sprouts, garden fresh veggies all sauted in a zesty Indian sauce. If you're not on the health kick, look forward to greasy omelettes and creative griddle treats, and be sure not to miss the homemade coffee cake on weekends.
Get there early enough to miss the crowds, or, better yet, with enough patience to wait for a table and soak in the characters on the hipster-dotted sidewalk.
Nice Staff, Fun Atmosphere, Fresh Foods!.
The folks who set up the Eat Well in Silverlake must have anticipated the supreme people watching opportunities when putting up those mirrors above the booths, but keep your eyes on the prize, ie: the great food!
Fresh ingredients and generous portions are the key here, and when the two come together and arrive at your table via a friendly, attentive server, the results are sure to please!
I enjoyed the Chinese Chicken Salad the other day, and what looked like a big platter of greens and fried wonton crisps, revealed, as I dug deaper, a treasure trove of tasty delights buried below: peanuts, mandarin orange slices, mounds of freshly grilled chicken breast, julienned jicama... All topped with a very tasty dressing. Sit and gossip, people watch, and compose each refreshing forkfull with a little this and that for a lingering lunch that will leave you feeling dandy!
My partner's salad was every bit as delish-- a chicken garden salad with to-die-for ranch dressing. Theres was enough left over chicken between us, that we had chicken sandwiches that evening for dinner.
The host, a lanky younger fellow, was just as friendly as could be, and our server-- very rock and roll in skin tight black jeans and pony tail, made sure my ice tea was topped off and attended to our every need with professionalism and a warmth often lacking during the lunch rush at other restaurants.
Love the interior-- another reviewer mentioned the "good energy" and I agree- no bad vibes here!
Cant wait to try the breakfast. I would not hesitate to go back, or recommend this establishment to others!
