Bottega Louie Restaurant And Gourmet Market

Hopefully Bottega Louie is a good sign for the future of DTLA. It's always busy and the food is great. Pastries are reminiscent of Laduree in Paris, which is no small compliment.

New York feel to the interior and the food and desserts are to everyone's liking! Portobello fries are a must with the prosciutto pizza!

come for the portabello fries, stay for the great service. Entering the space, I walked through the bakery, take-out portion of the huge space. Immediately I felt the weight of the spectacular downtown lofty ceilings. I was accosted by the wafting smells of pizza set against the classic, yet modern incarnation of the brick pizza ovens (in this case white brick). My first thought and last was I wished I lived nearby as this is the kind of place you would like to call yourself a regular for brunch with the sunday times.

Dinner was good, certain dishes verged on great and the experience was excellent for the price (3-4 courses with wine ended up coming out to $50/person) .

First the musts- the portabello fries. If you order one thing, make sure you don't miss out on these scrumptious, well seasoned, though still healthy (c'mon let me pretend, they are mushrooms after all!) small plate. The regular old potato fries were excellent as well, coated with perfect dusting of salt and crunch. The pizza, eggplant parm, branzino and beet salad where also quite good.

The chicken hero and calamari small plate were below average.

We enjoyed the assortment of macarons for dessert- my favorite was the chocolate passionate fruit, but all were good depending on your preference.

All in all good, service, nice atmosphere, appropriate but not overwhelming number of downtown hipsters and good food with a few occasional misses.

Extremely Loud Place & Extremely Slow/Rude Hostesses. This place was recommended to us by our hotel but with the heads-up that it was a little loud. We thought - that's ok, how loud can it be? This place is SO. LOUD. Once inside we went to put in our name for a reservation. I literally stood in front of the hostess stand, with 4 hostesses standing behind it, and went completely ignored for at LEAST 5 minutes. I eventually had to ask if I could add my name. I was looked at as though I were worthless and they indeed wrote down my name... and circled it. I went ahead and assumed that little circle meant that we would indeed by seated last, if ever. We left and had a wonderful experience elsewhere.

cool spot. I brought some friends here yesterday and we all became fans. The restaurant looks very good and the service is just amazing. My chicken milanese was above average but my red velvet cupcake was amazing. All my friends seemed to like what they ordered. I was taken aback at 1st because I got used to the fact that when I ordered something, starch usually comes with it like mashed or roasted potato, etc; so when we got our food, we all looked at each other wondering where the sides were since all we got was only our chicken. I guess I should have read the menu closer because it said nothing that the entrees came with anything. I'm giving them 5 stars because the service more than made up for my above average chicken.

I didn't try anything from the bar but my friend did and he said he said their white russian is on point and he's the type of guy that would throw his drink back to the bartender if it wasn't good enough.

Superb desserts. The berry creme tort is light, creamy, and perfect for a sweet but not heavy dessert.

Really good. I went to Bottega for dinner. The service is top notch without a flaw. But as for the food? I had the lamb, which was perfect in size (4oz) for $11. My daughter had the pizza. I also had the Caesar.

The atmosphere is high energy and mod. But the food was nothing impressive.

I'll be back!. I stopped in at Bottega Louie for dinner with girlfriends on Sunday evening. The place was full, but we were seated quickly. Our server was attentive and friendly.

The dinner items vary - entrees, small plates, meats, vegetarian dishes, and salads . One could spend anywhere from $7-$35 on a plate of food depending on what is ordered and the portion size. I got the eggplant parm, which was tasty! The wine list is satisfactory and also ranges in price.

The dining room is set up like an upscale cafeteria, which I really liked! It is loud, but not so loud that you can’t hear the person across from you. Perfect!

I will definitely be returning to this restaurant. I would love to try the pizza, and those desserts looked amazing! Great place to stop in with a group of friends.

Absolute waste of time!. I had read reviews of this place before going there and I found it highly over rated. The desk for the host/hostess is in the MIDDLE of the place and there is no way to phone ahead and get reservations. This alone made me wary - and I was right.

While I and the people in the same line were told that we would have to wait 1 HOUR I saw three couples just walk in and sit down. Apparently if you act like you're somebody you can just go sit at an empty table and nobody cares. The dress code is supposedly upscale but you don't have to dress to the nines. The waiter did NOT know what he was talking about when it came to the clarification of food and preparation. I was told beef carpaccio was lightly seared meat - it's actually RAW meat (beef). The food was excellent but it took 3 HOURS to eat our meal, because our waiter took forever to do anything, and the kitchens were apparently backed up. Our waiter was hardly around and didn't know anything about the food. I looked up some of the menu items online but not everything is covered.

If the service was faster, people weren't allowed to just walk in and sit down, and the waiters weren't wandering around aimlessly then I'd say go. But unfortunately their menu is hit or miss, the drinks are expensive, and for a place with two kitchens the service is way too slow. The noise is unbelievable and a bar would have been preferable. In fact good luck getting access to the small bar they do have, it was packed 3-4 people deep even when we left around 11pm. Getting a migraine is not my idea of a good time period. If anyone mentions this place to me I'll save them the time and trouble that would have been wasted. Don't go there and be sure to use a place that will let you book a reservation AND have the employees to keep table trolls from strolling in and sitting down.

Amazing Hangout Downtown. This place has finally given downtown LA hope. It's immaculate in all aspects of it's interior design. It's clean, crisp and fresh. The food is delicious, but the service and atmosphere even better. It's our new regular for Sunday brunches. Who could ask for a better place to enjoy Sundays with friends!!! Highly recommended!

Great food in a Beautiful Atmosphere. Sunday morning means one thing- brunch! Time to soak up all that alcohol from the past 3 days. The best way to do that is to head to Bottega Louie for their lemon ricotta pancakes. This Italian restaurant serves up delicious dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and their brunch is one of the best around. There’s so much yumminess to be had here that it’s kind of hard to decide what to get, but if you only order one thing you should make it the Portobello fries! Best of all, while you nosh away, you can marvel at the absolute stunning design of the restaurant. If you don’t live near DTLA, this one is definitely worth the trip.
