Not a home away from home. I went to Maximilian's about 2 years ago and had a good experience. Yesterday, I went back and was really disappointed in what the place had turned into.

My friends and I went there after finding out about a promotion for 20% off and a free glass of champagne. We got neither. We were told the promotion ended last week, although the promo email clearly stated 'until June 4th'.

The service was VERY slow. I'm used to slower-paced European service but this kind of slow-speed service was not justified as there was only one other table with guests on the outdoor patio. And she wasn't the friendliest person either.

And then, there was the food. I've lived in Austria for over 20 years - not far from the Hungarian border - and I don't think Maximilian's should call itself an Austro-Hungarian restaurant:

- Austrian potato salad should NOT be made with mayo (it should be made with vinegar and mustard)

- I had asked the server to replace my potatoe gratin that came with my trout with parsely potatos. She brought it with the gratin and tried to convince me that there was 'parsely in it'. Parsely potaoes are made completely different.

My friends said that the Hungarian inspired dishes (Gulash, etc) were not that bad. However, I can attest to it that the Austrian inspired dishes are not authentic in the least.

Great Wine Tasting. I recently went for one of the wine tastings on their patio, what a great spot to just sit and enjoy some nice wine after a busy day at work. We ordered the cheese plate to go along with it. The staff was very attentive. I would like to come for lunch one time as I see they have a prefix lunch special for only $10, you cant beat that.
