Kitschy churro look-alikes fill the digital menus that float above the red counters inside this to-go Spanish sweets shop. Melrose shoppers looking for a way to satiate their sweet tooth and cool down pop in for cups of "frozen chocolate"--frosty drinks drizzled with chocolate and topped with whipped cream. But the main event inside of this red and white-hued storefront are hand-made fritters--fried dough stuffed with creams and chocolates and rolled in everything from sugar to crushed macadamia nuts. As guests lean on white walls emblazoned with tic tac toe-style logos, their names are called to come grab bags of maca madness (fritters filled with macadamia cream and topped with milk chocolate and white chocolate) and tortoise (fritter stuffed with dulce de leche) fritters. If you can't find a pre-designed churro that makes your mouth water, the cafe lets you customize your stuffing flavors and toppings.
