worst bouncers, worst promoter, rude door people, good music, full gray goose drink, horrible club sugar, famous rappers
Sugar nightclub: filled with bribery, blackmail, and felonies.
Setting: 6/21/08; @ approximately 1 am in the Trance room of Sugar nightclub.
Situation: My friends and I were loyally attending Saturday nights @ Sugar nightclub and at 1 am, we were sitting inside a trance room underneath Sugar nightclub's wall of rock candy. A few female patrons nonchalantly grabbed pieces of candy and when my friends and I inquired about taking the candy, they said everybody could take some. (Note: There is no signage, conspicuous warnings, or security in front of the wall indicating we were allowed or not allowed to take candy) Hence, my friends and I decided to try the alleged candies. A few moments later, African American male security guards along with 1 Caucasian guard came over and decided to kick us out of the club due to our supposed "destruction of club property" by taking candy from the wall that contained no warning signs. As they were kicking my friends and I out, a few more patrons took more pieces of candy and the guards ignored them even though I had pointed it out. They simply said: "well, not everyone who speeds gets a ticket." As we were escorted out of the club, the guards decided to copy our Drivers license information so that they may send us a bill for the candy. But as I revealed that I knew of many promoters that were Promoting that night, they told us that if $80 tip was given, everything would be dropped. Blackmail, verbal and mental harassment and lack of customer service were exhibited by all involved with Sugar that night
city search promoting racism?. wow - i haven't even been here but looked at it bc it was on the "hot spots" list on city search - seems pretty shocking to promote a place with such awful claims of abuse and racism.
Promoter & Bouncers are the Worst. Went there on a Friday night for a friends birthday. Our names were supposed to be n the guestlist but the door guy said they were not. He allowed everyone in the party to go in except for the two darker skinned ladies in the party and told them they were not on the list. We called the promoter and he said take it up with the doorman. The bouncer would not let them at all he yelled at them to stand off to the side and call someone then eventully told them they could not stand there. It was the works ecxperience ever. The bouncer and the promoter have sticks up their butts and really bad attitudes. It was our first visit and we would never go again. We ended up going jsut across the street and had a great time. Got in for free and got bottle service for free as well. Club Sugar is horrible!!! Make sure your on the guestlist and ladies make sure your not too chocolate or you have a mix in your party.
bad bouncer service.
i agree...that club is a rip off...i was on the guestlist and they still made me pay $20.00..actually the doorman asked me for $10.00 and i am a woman.then when i handed a $20.00 to the cashier she took the whole $20.00 saying:"actually it is $20.00"...i let it go;then the head bouncer at the door came inside the smoking area and in a brutal belligerant agressive tone, told me "don't sit like that on our couch!!!!";i was talking to someone and just politely replied "ok"...then on m way out at 1.45 am;the same bouncer come screaming at me saying"get out!!!ou gotta go!!!
so i told him nicely"you can be polite to customers...then he said screaming..."you are not a customer, you are lucky i even let you in my club etc..."
the doorman, was scared of telling him to be nice to customers, basically took the side of the bouncers.
then,i asked for his name to make a report,he came in my face intimidating me and saying so you wanna make a report? and i said yes...he said so what just get out and make it on monday.
he intimidated every other worker so they will not give me his name.
i felt attacked, abused, targeted and disrespected.i still have the bank receits...because i had to go to the atm to give them $20.00 cash and then they go on and say,i am not a customer...abusing me verbally and bullying me.
i guess that is the policy of that club, let the bouncers treat people like dirt and no one says anything.their phone numbers is just a voicemail,no one ever picks up the phone.
also i noticed that they made all the black girls pay but not the others ethnicities...i walk up on sunday morning and still was upset about the night before on how i was bullyied by the head bouncer and the promoter just stood tere in agreement, did not said a word.
they do have the right to let in whoever they want, but they have no right to abuse nor bully anyone especially after taking their money.
THE BOUNCERS WILL ROB YOU!!!.
The inside of the club is alright. They eventually block off all areas so you have to stand in/near the dancefloor.
Watch out for the bouncers cause they will say you have to pay them to get in even if they just let your friends in for free!!! They even do this 30 minutes before closing.
Your better off going to Ritual across the street. It is 20 times nicer and the music is better.
Lavish dance emporium is a velvet-roped oasis for its stylish crowds--and the club promoters who love them..
In Short
As intimate as it is opulent, this lounge/dance club epitomizes the Cahuenga Corridor's promoter-centric, velvet rope exclusivity. Inside, Brazillian cherry wood floors and upholstered leather couches impart a certain dark allure. Rock-candy wall fixtures and plasma TVs preserve a tinseltown twinkle that the glitzy crowd craves. With a DJ-manned dance floor, an intimate smoking room, and a lounge littered with private bottle-service tables, there is no shortage of places to see, be seen, or slip into closed conversation with a new best friend.
