Modern Vietnamese in a storefront setting

If you're expecting super-cheap Vietnamese, Atwater Village's Viet Noodle Bar will disappoint but if you want excellent ingredients, innovative preparations and house-made soy milk, this IS the place. A must have the: the lemongrass chicken banh mi or the shitake tofu banh mi--both come on fresh, airy baguettes, though small, these sandwiches pack a flavorful punch. Pho choices are pretty standard but all good. The candied ginger soy curd is an amazing dessert--also house made. Beer is now available and credit cards are accepted. Sit at the long communal table for an urban experience; an adjacent room has small tables.
- Pros: Homemade dishes and friendly service
- Cons: Prices higher, servings smaller than SGV Pho places
