Named after a Vietnamese herb, Tiato is much like a secret garden tucked away along an otherwise office-centric area of Santa Monica. (It's located at the MTV/Lions Gate building.) Opened in late June 2010 by the An family--they're the ones behind Crustacean in Beverly Hills and the gorgeous Anqi at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa--the huge, eco-friendly indoor/outdoor space has a cool bar, mini-farmers' market on weekends (so convenient!), a to-go cafeteria, full-service cafe and lovely outdoor patio surrounded by an herb garden that includes tiato, of course.
