Awesome Results! – Full of Life Fitness Hollywood Half Marathon Program was a great experience. I am an absolutely beginner, and this program taught me a lot about my body. I was able to figure out what my boundaries are, which was very important to me since I wanted to reach my fitness goals and prevent injury at the same time. Heather and Steve are awesome, supportive, and go out of their way to correct form, answer and address any questions or concerns I had. In addition to the Half Marathon Program, I also took Heather's "Group Coaching Sessions" to help build up my strength for optimal results. The classes are awesome and effective. I've lost a noticeable amount of fat off my body and went down a few sizes. I am very happy to have found such a motivating, effective, and supportive program.
Loved training with Heather! – I trained for the Hollywood Half Marathon with the FOLF group. I had recently moved from NYC to LA so didn't know a lot of people. Also, I hadn't run more than six miles in the last five years. Heather and the group were fun, supportive, and informative. It gave me the motivation to keep with my training and I had a great run with the Hollywood Half Marathon. I miss the group and the Sunday morning runs in Griffith Park. I look forward to training with Heather and FOLF for my next event.
Do yourself a favor – I found Heather through her FOLF Hollywood Half Marathon Living Social deal - lucky me!!!! I have done a few triathlons but always HATED the run and had pretty much decided my body was just not built for it. Thanks to Heather and FOLF, I was not only able to run 13.1 miles, I did it in 2 hours and 21 minutes! Even though we were working in a group, she focused on our individual running forms and gave us all corrections that would allow us to run safely and minimize injury. She was always available for questions and could always answer them!!! Heather is very educated and really knows what she's doing, but she has an amazing way of explaining things so simply that I really felt like I understood what was happening to my body and WHY. I woke up on race day feeling SO prepared and knew exactly what to expect. Obviously the physical benefits are nothing to sniff at, either - I am stronger, have more energy, and had to buy a smaller swimsuit for this summer. :) Not to mention I'm doing two more halfs this year and contemplating my first full marathon!
The best things about Heather are her passion for what she does, her vast knowledge of fitness and the human body, and her love for helping people. It's like she's opening a giant birthday present every time one of her clients succeeds. Her energy is contagious - you can't be around her and not feel like you can achieve whatever you want! Don't think twice about joining FOLF - don't even think once - just get on it!
Most advanced trainer I've met in LA – I can start by saying Heather is extremely devoted to her clients, knows the body, keeps her attention on you and your technique like nobody I've worked with, and I would be saying the truth. But that wouldn't give you the total picture. I've been running since I was 11, ran my first marathon when I was 18, so I knew a bit about fitness when I came to Heather looking for some training tips.
Immediately she noticed my flaws and imbalances and got right down to the root of my issues. And while often we tend to ignore our weaknesses and workout our strength to get more satisfaction out of a workout, Heather doesn't play that. In just a couple sessions she managed to do more for me than a ton of my own workouts that went nowhere. External circumstances made us part ways, but I do plan to go back once we're closer together geographically.
In a city where all too many people claim to know the secret to fitness, Heather actually gets you there.
Healthy Results – Through the Jeans Challenge, I learned that I CAN indeed strengthen muscle groups that I never thought was possible. I had long ago accepted the fact that I would never have any upper body strength, but Heather was able to dispel that notion through her proper training and her constant motivation to challenge myself. I can actually do a real push-up now! That is another great part of her program: Heather knows how and when not to push our workouts. She continually watches our form to ensure no injuries and is able to accommodate to each person's limitations with comparable workout substitutes without compromising a good workout. She genuinely cares and understands about our overall health and fitness. Bottom line: the proof is in the results and the entire group fit into their skinny jeans so that says it all.
