DTLA shop. Great barbershop. Easy to schedule appointment on line. Always on time and very relaxed. Great barbers.
Open until 2AM Thurs-Sat AND offering Happy Hour Half Price Shaves ($12.50) and $20 Haircuts, Th-Sa 10P-2A Only at this location.
Decent haircut. Horrible customer service. – o I go on line to make an appointment for later in the day. First I have to sign in, I have no idea what my password is, so I have to change it. The schedule pops up, with the times available for the different barbers. But there is nothing for the today. I don't mean that there are no appointments for the today, I mean that there is no schedule to make an appointment.
So i call the number on the website, now bear in mind that it is 9 am, the store has not even opened. I am told that they do not take appointments for the same day, but that I could just walk in. I know from previous visits that this is not a good idea, they don't have a lot of barbers working, you could easily wait for a long time.
So I call the store when they are open, and tell them that I would like to come in around two, do they have any openings, same story... no same day appointments. When I enquired the reasoning behind this policy, Adam "explained" that if I i made an appointment for two ,and a guy came in five minutes before me then he would have to put me in front of him, and "who are you?' , yes, he actually said that... "who are you". I told him that I am the guy who made the appointment, that's who.
Can someone enlighten me? If I call a restaurant at 1:30, and ask them if they have a table at 2, they can say yes, or they can say no. It seems that there is either an appointment available or there isn't. Am I missing something?
There are like 100 other barbers in LA, I'm sure that I will have no trouble finding one that understands the basic systems for making appointments, It's a haircut, not brain surgery. When I want a root beer, I'll go to the supermarket.
As you have already been told, believe it or not, we really don't take same day appointments. That's the way we run the railroad. In the time it took you to call and write this nasty, you could have easily have come in, enjoyed a root beer, a game of bowling and donkey kong, read the paper, taken a piss, and gotten into one of our comfy barber chairs to get shorn or shaved.
Oh no. Uh uh. Yeah right. Denied. – I walked into Bolt just before 11:30, when they take their last hair cut ~ I asked the fella chopping mops if he was sure he wanted to fit me in. "Oh yeah" "Why not" "No problem" he said. I waited and we chatted while he finished up the guy he was working on. Then, I sit in his chair. He asks me what's up with my hair and I tell him. He puts the cape on me. Everything is good, fantastic, great until some dude with a swirly on his head says "Oh no" blah, blah, blah "we have a procedure and you didn't check in" and would let the guy cut my hair!!!!! WHAAAAAAT?! I was extremely offended! I don't live in LA and leave tomorrow. This was my only chance to get a cut for a minute. Now, I will continue my journey north with over grown hair Hahaha I do not care how classy your shop is. I do not care how talented your artist are. Bad customer service will kill any business, quick. Word of mouth is where it's. Never have I been so blatantly disrespected.
Welcome to the Man Cave! – Mohawk Matt and all the peeps working at Bolt have worked hard to turn Bolt Barbers into an oasis for guys in West Hollywood. The result? A unique experience where all guys feel welcome to come in, grab a root beer, shave or shear, and just kick it.
That's what differentiates this place from the rest of the hundred options in LA that you have for shortening your mane. The atmosphere and service is so uniquely Bolt. I'd been wandering dozens of place to get your haircut since moving to LA two years ago (including Rudy's, Shorty's, and Floyd's, but I'd never felt as welcome as I did when I first stepped into Bolt. Of course, many start-ups try to outdo their competition in service, so you have to hope it lasts as they get busier. If they keep up their level of attentiveness to their customers, then they most definitely will get busier.
The atmosphere and service is nice here and sets them apart, but what is the bottom dollar? You're looking at a $22 haircut, which is a few bucks cheaper than Rudy's. If you sign up for their member's only card ($3 and change), you're entitled to free Sprecher's root beer (in a cold mug) on all visits and Pabst at night after 7. Nights are another thing... they're open late all week. Bolt is possibly the only place you can get your haircut in LA at 11pm on a Sat night, and it's an even more fun and lively atmosphere at night. You can come in and watch basketball their screens and just kick it with the guys after your cut.
Bowling! Tapers! Root Beer! Welcome Back Melrose! – I love this place, almost more than I do women. I was passing by on my way home one day and caught a peek inside. I said, "sh*t, this looks better than SuperCuts, might as well try it out."
I started going here last January and have stuck with Anthony. Dude knows what the f*ck he is doing and does a precise job at that. All the guys at Bolt are top-notch dudes and service is great. I also enjoy the fact that I get a rootbeer whenever I go for being a member...it's like being a little kid again and going to the doctor and definitely not as fallic as a lollipop.
This place is great, check it out. The old skool bowling alley is pretty cool too while you wait to get shorn!
