Fun fact: A hog refers to a swine weighing over 120 pounds, while a pig is basically a skinny teenager. After a meal at Eric Park’s aptly named Black Hogg, you’ll certainly feel more like the former than the latter. Deep fried bacon cubes with a maple crema, pork belly tacos and pitch perfect bone marrow all grace the menu and to Park’s credit are expertly executed. Black Hogg does gourmet comfort food to the height of its potential and while the dishes are they heavy, they prove worth their weight.

Lots of bacon, but in a good way. Juicy chicken and lamb burgers. Dip the fries in the mussel broth and try the 5 Leches Bread Pudding.

Taking a cue from Animal, Black Hogg serves up some savory fat laden bites, but the fried Pork Belly is definitely the way to go

Tried this place shortly after trying Animal, and it seems clear that Black Hogg might have taken some inspiration, but Black Hogg's execution struck me as more accessible. The fried bacon cubes with maple crema were so delicious that we had to keep ordering more of them, and the olives were also quite tasty, as were the more substantial dishes. Our party ordered almost everything on the menu and found it all to be impressive, and actually a little bit less pricey than we were expecting. Excellent experience overall!

Nice eatery in the Silverlake/Echo Park area. Unique interpretations on traditional menu items. Only been there once and the service and food were very good. However, they don't sale alcohol...bummer.
