Nice little neighborhood pub feel in the heart of SM. Stopped by this little nondescript bar/pubhouse after arriving from a late flight into LAX. At first I was kind of turned off by the lack of attention that we received, maybe that was just because I was jet lagged, but after settling in for a couple drinks and ordering some food, everything was fantastic. The waitress was friendly and conversational once you got her going, and we ended up closing out the place and meeting the owner who's a good guy, originally from NYC. The food was good and portions were very fair. They have a lot of good beers on tap and happy hour specials are great for the area. Definitely worth a stop by.
Santa Monica gastropub = hearty grub + lotsa bottled brew.. Barflies looking for next-level bar food and a serious bottled beer selection will enjoy this two-story space, formerly known as the pricey Third on Fourth bistro. The bar is a bit unusual not only because the selection features over 100 types of global beers (including upper echelon brews like Hitachino White Ale and Pomme Lambic), but also because said beer is almost entirely bottled. (Hey, they last longer.)There's plenty of grub, too. Separated into crack food, lite food, real food and Jane's food, the menu offers hits like beer-steamed mussels, the already-famed bacon crusted French toast, and an All-In-One Hangover Sandwich, packed with a fried egg, turkey, cured meats and coppacolla.
