I read the negative reviews here...All I can say is that I guess people who aren't familiar with a proper Irish pub might need to either culture themselves or simply find a new bar. As for The Shamrock...it's great place to catch soccer or rugby matches. And, unlike most Southern California sports bars, you actually get commetary with the games (not some best of music genre CD blaring over the action). If you're coming for the food, don't get your hopes up. It's standard Irish fare. The only thing worse than Irish food is English food (might also throw Scandanavian grub in that group). However, if you're coming for a good place to relax, catch a game, a nice pint or some live Irish music, you can't go wrong. This is one of my favorites in The OC.
Pros: Soccer, Rugby, Beer
Cons: They serve authentic Irish food

I went in to catch a friends band and ordered a Glenlivet and Newcastle. The bartender proceeds to pour me a Jameson. I told him I asked for a Glenlivet and he swears he poured me one. I said, "No, you poured me a Jameson." We argued back and forth over this until I said, "Forget it." Basically, he was just being an azzclown The bouncers are all azzclowns too. You can't walk in through the front. You can't dance. I saw one girl harassed by a bouncer for dancing. The same bouncer was clearing tables and tried to take my drink I was not finished with. Only an act of the owner got me my drink back. Pretty dodgy place. You're on edge the whole time because of the staff. That's the antithesis of a good time.
