Best Patty Melt. Delicious! As anyone who has enjoyed Howards knows, this is not for the health concious. That being said, the food at Howards is awesome. While the bacon avocado burger is the signature and very tasty, I personally think they make the best patty melt i have ever had. Crispy rye bread with gooey cheese and onions ontop of a beefy patty(or two if you get the double) make this sandwhich unbeliveable. Add some bacon for a true cholesteral killer. While the ingredients and preperation are simple and no frills, the food is always delicious and the staff is friendly and competent. The only drawback is the limites seating, so dont try going there with a big group. Puts In-n-Out to shame.

BEST BURGERS THIS SIDE OF L.A.. I driven by this restaurant either by my parents or myself for the last 30 years!!! Ever since I was 10 years old this restaurant with the big white sign that you can see from Sepulveda has always interested me. I finally went to Howard's for lunch yesterday (03-20-2007) and was saying to myself, why didn't I come here sooner?? The Double Cheeseburger I had was by far the BEST in L.A. - better than In & Out and The Apple Pan!!! So juicy, with crispy bacon - makes me want to get it again. thanks JG

SOOOO GOOD!. You won't regret trying their Bacon Avocado Cheeseburger. The bacon is nice and crisp (not chewy and fatty), and the meat is well seasoned. Next to In-n-out, it is my favorite burger in LA.

Nothing better. I do my washing at the laundromat next door. There's nothing to take the edge off doing giant loads of laundry like a BACON AVOCADO BURGER from Howard's. Fresh and gooey and crispy, it's a burger that easily puts others to shame. Makes you feel like a real neighborhood insider.

Delicious, well-made food at bargain prices. I'm thrilled to have found this place, and I'm going back. And then I'm going back again.

pretty good burger. First off, you've gotta love a mom-and-pop burger place. You will find absolutely no frills here, just decent food served quickly. However, this is definitely far superior to any nationwide chain.

We really liked the fact that they served fountain soda, which seems to be increaslingly rare these days. Their signature avacado and bacon burgers were tasty, with extremely cripsy bacon and soft avocado slices. Even the fries and onion rings, although obviously previously frozen, were well-prepared. Nice place with pleasant staff, although mostly self-service.
