Best empanadas in LA. Small place, but they have the best empanadas in LA...

Try the beef and the spicy steak w/ chimichurri sauce the best!!!!!

Great Empanadas. I went here today and thought the empanadas were delicious. I went with my Argentine friend and she was really excited to have found this place so close to work. We tried the Veggie (spinach), Corn, Cheese + Onion, and the Tomato +Cheese+Basil empanadas. All were delicious. A little flaky, like i like them. We got a dozen empanadas + 4 drinks for $22 ( which i think is a deal) so we were able to have left overs to take home. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy... but you can tell theyre clean and basic. I went around 5:30pm and was able to get the last of the veggie options, so i see why people have suggested to get there early before they run out. I'm not in west LA much, but if i happen to be, and if im craving empanadas I wouldnt hesitate to come back.

Best cheesesteak in L.A.. Ever since living in Philly for one summer, I've been searching for a Philly-like "cheesesteak" in L.A. For the uninitiated, a "cheesesteak" is a sandwich essentially made of sliced beef and cheese (and some other condiments, to your liking). Al's Sandwich Shop is a hidden jewel and I've been going there for about 13 years. Their cheesesteak sandwich is the best one I've found in L.A. I think one key to its success is the bread. They use a high quality roll. Also, I usually order mine with extra meat and extra cheese. Everyone I've taken there thinks it's a winner. It's also cheap and the Asian family members who run the place are always friendly and gracious. Give it a try and you might be going back for the next 10+ years.

THE L.A. CheeseSteak. This westside hangout has been serving up an addictive, albeit non-traditional (they add lettuce mayo and tomatoes), brand of Cheesesteak for longer than I can remember. You must try the beef or chicken Cheesesteak sandwiches. The flavor is unparalleled! The chicken Cheesesteak is extremely tasty and juicy. Burgers and Hot Dogs are given a nice twist as they are served on the same delicious French rolls as the Cheesesteaks. During lunch time the crowd may vary from Sony, Culver, and Fox studio execs to plummers, cable guys, couples out for the day, and kids from Hamilton High risking arrest from the truancy cops just for a taste of what Al puts out.
