What People Are Saying About sugarFISH by sushi nozawa

Expanding on its other strip mall success in Marina Del Rey, this cool and casual Japanese eatery proves that great sushi can be an everyday luxury. While the notorious "Sushi Nazi" Kazunori Nozawa is not actually in the kitchen (he's at his original outpost in Studio City), he still oversees the menu and picks every piece of fish that's served. Knowing this, most patrons will choose from the handful of "Trust Me" omakase options, which offer the freshest catches of the day at the best value--about half the cost of what you'd pay at the original Valley location. Of course, there are a la carte…

Never go back again

We have not done the San Vicente joint but we have tried the one in the Marina. This place is a stone rip off. The room is cool and the help is OK. The fish has been precut some place else and they then have a untrained Sushi guy putting it together in the back. It was OK but nothing special and thought it was over priced as there are any number of Sushi places on the West Side that are better and often less expensive.
But mostly I objected to the fact that they added I think an 18% tip on the total bill including the tax. We were only two people. In all my years as a Restaurant worker, owner and patron I have never seen a tip added on for such a small party. Besides I never tip on the tax
But then I am jaded as we use to have Masa take care of us at Ginza Sushiko. Also the guys at the Hump.
I know if I can't say anything nice I shouldn't say anything at all but I just could not help myself, Frank Soracco
Delicious Sushi!

I absolutely loved this sushi place! I heard a lot of good things about this japanese restaurant and I decided to finally check it out tonight and I must say I was not disappointed at all. I ordered the Nozawa special on their menu and every single sushi was fresh, delicious and melted in my mouth. The price was quite reasonable for the amount of pieces they served me.
The staff was very professional and super friendly. The only negative thing I would say is that it was crowded and a bit loud but my friend who has been there several times said that usually it is not that busy,
- Pros: Resonable prices for top quality sushi, great service
- Cons: Crowded
Sushi Heaven

I have been trying to find the "best" sushi on the west side, and I have to look no further. I followed everyone's advice and ordered the Trust Me Light- and have never had fresher fish. But make sure to get the crab hand roll- to die for. The fish is served on warm, sweet sticky rice and the fish melts in your mouth. Parking is validated for first 2 hours and service was spot on. All in all, a wonderful dinner.
- Pros: Crab roll, Trust Me dish, service
- Cons: Slightly small portion but left satisfied
