A little snobbish miss Gia. But her groomers are great. I guess she is getting all the credit.
If you are not a celebrity of wannabe don't expect to have her roll the red carpet for you anytime soon.
Gia has a heart of gold – I was in a time period of terrible personal turmoil and Gia made me feel like family, and remind me I was human and could always use a helping hand. She would take wonderful care of Otto and BoyNamedSue, and was extremely patient when it came to demanding requests.
Also, we went to several other groomers before finding Gia, and the results were horrific (cut paw pad without being told when we picked him up) to the just absolutely worst haircut with no love behind it.
Pour la Pooch is a jewel in LA.
Gotta Love It!! – Our dog is actually pretty easy-going, as far as Pomeranians go, but he's never liked going to the groomer, except at Pour La Pooch. At most places, he digs his nails into the sidewalk trying to avoid going through the door, but at Pour La Pooch he jumps out of the car and is thrilled to see Gia.
I'm not sure if it's cause and effect, but he also gets the best haircuts here -- Gia is very attentive and he always turns out looking great. We've recommended Pour La Pooch to dozens of fellow dog owners and have never heard a bad thing from anyone.
Personal Touch! – I absolutely love Pour La Pooch. My dog gets a fantastic cut, but the best thing about the place is the personal attention. The owner takes notes of your preferences and keeps them on file. She pays special attention to each individual dog and has a great way of putting the dogs at ease. She's a true dog lover and it makes a huge difference. I used to get really nervous whenever I left my sweet dog with other groomers but now I can rest easy because I know he is being very well taken care of.
Pour La Pooch provides excellent customer service---just ask the dogs I walk! – I have been a dog walker and pet sitter near and around the area of Pour La Pooch, so even though I don't have a dog myself, I know that Gia and her store are awesome! Whenever I go to Pour La Pooch to care for any of "my" animals, the staff provides excellent customer service, the store is very clean, and the pets are happy to be there. As I said, even though the dogs I care for aren't my own, I treat them with the utmost care, and so does Pour La Pooch!
A Little Reasoning... – I was concerned after seeing the negative feedback, but being someone who works in customer service who has experienced slanderous material being posted in an open forum, I decided to do some research. I spoke to my vet, who told me that any animal can still function and be playful even with an injury. It might even be a pre-existing condition that the owner may not be aware of yet. We take our dogs to the vet when we see signs that something is wrong, but how many stories have we all heard of people finding out their dog was sick or hurt, and the owner was completely shocked. I have experienced it myself.
So, I feel it is only fair to share my experience...
I took my very young puppy Emma to Pour la Pooch after she had received her final shots. My poor baby was so scared, as it was her first time to the groomers. Gia and the staff were amazing! As high spirited as Emma (Australian Shepherd) is, they were able to calm her, and they did a beautiful job. To be completely honest, I have taken Emma to other groomers that are closer to my house, but I always return to Pour La Pooch because no other has been able to match their friendly service, gently touch, and an all around love of animals.
my comment... – I havent been here, but I can tell you this: the dog was HEALTHY and WALKING and JUMPING and PLAYING before it got there. Backtracking and changing your accounts of what happened that day and/or your opinions about Gia, Pour La Pooch, or the deceased pet's owner is none of my concern. The only thing i can comment on is: i saw the dog that morning and it was as healthy as any pup should be.
POOR LA POOCH – I decided to write a review to offer a different review to the sugar coated efforts to cover up that this place is negligent. The dog was a young HEALTHY dog with records to probe it!. NO review in the world could have changed my mind before, I wrote one that was VERY positve so I completely "get" the positive reviews, "my dog looks great, the owner is sweet, only the best for my dog, etc. ." But any attempt to post a negative review gets blasted. SHAME on you for saying people are trying to make a "buck"! When you LOVE your pet as much NO AMOUNT of money in the world could ever be enough to replace the unconditional love it brought. NO AMOUNT! The love of your best friend, your companion, your ONLY child is IRREPLACEABLE! It goes to show how insensitive the people at poor la pouch & friends are. The negative reviews are here for a reason. But don't worry Poor La pouch, you still have great support of the fans. Sometimes, though, its so much better to do the right and responsible thing! Be a good human being! Treating people and their pets with dignity, when something happens is better than all the positive reviews in the world. Accusing someone of trying to make a buck when they are hurting is shameful and NOT characteristic of decent human beings who we should trust with our pets. So, who's really thinking about the buck? If your dog has never had a problem here, thank your lucky stars, because if you ever do they will accuse you of "trying to make a buck" or "lashing out". Think about it... what if it was you? How would you like to be treated? But if you no longer have a dog, maybe the bucks can wag their tails, or cuddle with you at night or maybe you can use them to wipe your tears! I would take my dog to a big chain store to get groomed BEFORE I took it to POOR la Pooch.
To Unbelievable – What's really UNBELIEVABLE is that you read hearsay on the internet and change your opinion based on that and not even on your own experience, which has always been good. If you don't have the intelligence to form your own opinions, do the world a favor and don't write reviews. This is a first class establishment and you people can't comprehend that the perpetrator of this negativity is just lashing out, trying to blame someone for her dog's problem and trying to make a buck in the process?
Lemon Loves It! – I take my dog, Lemon, to Pour La Pooch and have been doing so for years. She's a cockapoo and she actually likes going there (which says a lot for the place, since she used to hate going to "the barber." ) I've had many occasions to chat with the owner, Gia, and she's a lovely woman. She told me how she got started in the business. She'd spent several years volunteering for The Bill Foundation adoption events and realized that her passion is animals, dogs in particular. That's how she ended up with Pour La Pooch. She's so great with the dogs. When we come in, she always comes out from behind her counter and gets down on the floor with Lemon and hugs her and plays a little before they march into the back for a wash and haircut. It's a very friendly place and I've seen her with other customers and its always the personal treatment. It's been a great experience and I'll continue to take any dogs I parent there. Word to the wise: parking on Beverly's a little tricky at rush hours and leave yourself a little extra time at drop off, since they take in a lot of dogs in the a.m. and it gets busy at drop off time.
