awesome restful place.
This place is Fabulous!
I personally love the Korean Body Scrubs here they make my skin feel baby soft.
The most amazing thing at Tikkun are the jade/ hymalayan/ korean kwanto infra-red rooms.
the massages are great they help me release all the stress out.
nothing special for the price.
Came in this week since it was Spa Week and ordered the 50 Min Swedish Massage and 45 Min Tikkun Korean Full Body Treatment for $50 each. It was my first time using the spa and there were 4 different COED rooms; an ice room, infrared jade room, clay room, and salt room. Inside the women's area there was a steam room, sauna, large jacuzzi, 3 private showers and 4 semi-private* Korean scrub stations. In the ladies area, there are digital lockers, one bathroom, 2 sink areas, tooth brushes (in plastic), lotion, cotton balls, q-tips, hair brushes (they were nasty and filled with hair), and 2 hair dryers. There was also iced water, tea, trail mix, and mini rolled up towels on top of a bucket of ice, which I thought was cute. The lockers weren't really big and didn't have hook to hang your clothes/bag but I still managed. There are also towels and robes available as well as shorts and shirts to wear for the coed areas rooms.
This spa is a small-ish spa. The therapeutic treatment rooms could only fit 4-6 people max and it is also in the basement of a building, which might make someone a little claustrophobic (didn't bother me that much). The ice room was not cold at all (it's usually supposed to be below 40 degrees) and was around 60-75 degrees F. The jade room was warm and had a heated jade floor. The salt room was hot and also my favorite. The clay room was the hottest out of the 4 and was nice. The steam room was normal and had a bottle of eucalyptus to spray, as well as a shower head inside. The sauna was normal but it was super small, only 2-3 people would fit. The showers had a private iced-glass door with shampoo, conditioner and body gel. The Jacuzzi was a little bigger than normal size and 3.5 ft deep.
I've been getting Korean (askuri) scrubs for about 5 years now and I absolutely love them! I usually go to Korea Town since they are amazing and have great prices but I don't always like driving there. I've wanted to try out Tikkun Holistic for a while now and since Spa Week was having $50 treatments here it was the perfect opportunity.
I came in at noon on a Tuesday and I there was only one other woman there, which was nice since they weren't so busy (especially since it was Spa Week) and it was more private. Before the scrub it is important to soak in the Jacuzzi for at least 15 minutes to open up the pores and loosen the skin so it can be scrubbed away. The lady who did my scrub was a very sweet Korean lady who did not speak any English; her scrub job was only okay because she could have went harder on me, I've gotten at least 50 scrubs before and usually much more skin comes off. Another thing, I ordered the 45 Min Korean Full Body Treatment, which was supposed to include a hair rinse as well but my session was only 30 minutes long!! VERY DISSAPOINTING. As for the massage, I never gotten a Swedish massage before (last/first time I got a massage was 2 years ago from a Thai place) so I cannot really compare it to anything. I was relaxed and it felt good but I have a lot of neck/shoulder/back pain and I don't think it improved anything.
Bottom line: The scrub was only okay, and for the original price ($65-85) it wasn't worth it at all. The massage was relaxing but I still have my back pain. ALSO, when I was in the Jacuzzi I saw a baby cockroach crawling around on the floor, which really grossed me out. The location is perfect and the parking is great.
*For those whom haven't been to a traditional Korean spa, it's usually a bunch of tables a couple feet apart with a lot of naked people around getting scrubs. Tikkun's 4 scrubbing stations are semi-private compared to a traditional Korean spa. But if you are not comfortable getting naked in front of a bunch of other women this place is not for you.
