Kokomo's definitely A Go Go – I'm a big fan of several of the establishments in the Farmer's Market, specifically Kokomo Cafe. Kokomo is unlike most of the breakfast places here in LA. The design is simple yet perfect for the diner and the food is always good to the last bite. I love their coffee and the coffee cake is by far the best I've had in Los Angeles. Great food and great looking crowd!
fun - like a circus – I don't know about foam, so I'm not qualified to cry about a latte, but I went there on very busy Sunday, and my family and I had a blast. Food, atmosphere and the down to earth staff. The only thing that got on my nerves was some of the clientele. Why are LA yuppies so impatient? you might think with the amount of people that work in restaurants in this city that there would be less attitude to the staff - not so. PLEASE, if you bring a coffee from Starbucks into another restaurant don't give the hostess a hard time for asking you to wait fifteen minutes. I am sure that you are very important in your world but remember - it is just eggs!
Zagat How? – I ordered cafe latte. It arrived without a drop of foamy milk and as hot as boiling water. As I write this my tongue still tingles. I ordered eggs over easy, bacon and potatoes. The eggs were covered with runny raw egg whites. I decided to complain about the eggs. The second plate arrived as runny as the first. The bacon was now crispy as a potato chip. I set it aside and paid the bill of $1947 with a twenty dollar bill. A few moments later a different waitress returned with my change of 53 pennies saying as she walked away, sorry only had pennies. DEFINITELY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Kokomo Cafe.
Never a Disappointment – This is just one of those places that have become a staple in Los Angeles. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere trendy and the service can be hit of miss, but generally good. It would be nice if names were placed on a list on weekends, as the line can get long and tedious. But it's my favorite star sighting spot because I've seen Drew Berrymore, Cameron Diaz, James Woods and Jody Foster there on several occasions.
Great place. – A great place to eat with larger than normal portions. This is a great place to meet friends for a mimosa brunch and to do a little celebrity watching. Not to mention the decor is very sophisticated for a California diner.
This one is for those in the know – By far the chicest place in the entire Grove and Framers Market. The new back patio looks like the owner robbed the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Verner Panton Chairs, Philippe Starck Tables and a beautiful mosiac tiled wall. The decor isn't the only thing worth writing about, the food, for what it is, is by far some of the best in LA. I've heard the owner shops daily for meats and produce within the farmers market and everything is maid to order, unlike many other market stands with steam table food. This place is were true LA insiders go and rub elbows with the frequent celeb.
