Mid-Wilshire coffee shop caters to both the office workers and the many nearby apartment dwellers with quick, efficient sandwiches, smoothies and breakfast items. And, yes, they are dog friendly.

No more!. I have been in the Black Dog Coffee over a dozen times. Every time I walk out I realize that this place really isn't that good. That good!, it isn't any good!

I've had enough. Another reviewer hit it on the head. Attitude. It stinks. And the owner behind the counter must have gone to the Nazi Commandant School of Charm.

No More! I will walk an extra 2 blocks just to stay away. It's worth it.

Great local place, good for lunch and breakfast. Creative and unique sandwiches, great salads and great coffee (we get the organic dark roast by the pound!).

Such a nice break from the corporate chain places in the area.

Try the grilled cheese or the tuna melt. Yum.

Over Rated. I have tried 3 different menu items on 3 occasions. The fact that dogs are allowed into the restaurant makes sense. They are the only ones that should be eating this crap.

Salads are DELISH!. I'm a huge Black Dog fan. They opened up in my neighborhood when there were very few other places to go...especially on weekends! I fell in love with their Greek salad...all salads seem to be properly chilled, have really fresh ingredients and great dressings. Their Caesar is totally rockin as is this Beef salad with goat cheese (thought it was sort of odd, but love it!) and they make yummy soups that my neighbor is addicted to...esp. the gazpacho.

Coffee is really great (strong but not too strong) and I actually like to go there for breakfast...cut up fresh fruit, yogurt and granola or occasionally I'll go the veggie fritatta route. And again, great, fresh ingredients.

And as the name suggests, they outdoor seating is dog friendly...always a fresh bowl of water waiting for my pup.

This place has gone downhill....... I have been going to Black Dog for years and it has steadily gone downhill. I went there for the last time this week. Most of the staff do not know how to make a good coffee, the pastries are often stale and there are too many insects in the pastry case. The clientele are a bunch of entertainment industry dorks talking loudly on their cell phones. I used to love the chicken sandwich with peanut sauce and would endure the rude waitstaff and lame clientele to get my fix, but it's just not worth it. I will avoid this place from now on! They can serve their recycled espresso shots to someone else!
