What Our Expert Scouts Say

February 14, 2013

They recently got a revamp that did them good. The food is traditional Irish fare and their beer on draft is delicious.

Fun place to drink, OLD TIME SERVICE. Didn't see the frat boys here, but I did see rude service.

Strolled in here at 1am on the weekend, looking to finish the night strong. Lots of charm inside with a long bar, and what looked like cozy booths and tables. It was not very full. We walked up to the bar, and the bartend did not like us from the start - apparently we were sitting in a bar seat already occupied by someone else (who was not there). After that he ignored us and refused to serve us, which was strange as his side of the bar was empty anyways. His partner was more than helpful, and set us up with some stiff drinks.

If only both bartenders were like the latter....

If grumpy, old-timer bars where you hope you are liked are for you, then this is your place.

Fries & Cocktails. The basket of fries with ranch dresing is the closest thing to McDonald's around. A great place to have a cocktail (nice and strong) and good bar food. The old time bartenders have passed on, but Michael is still around. He may be surly but that's waht we all want in a local pub. Irish Coffee's a great!! Many celebs have gone belly up at this bar.

Crap. The place is awful. The atmosphere is fine and the people are all right, but the bartenders are complete jerks. I came here on a Saturday night with friends, and the loser bartenders ignored us all night. Pretended not to hear us when we tried to order from them at the end of the bar. Like they were deaf or something. And we didn't even know them! Attitude problems make this place a zero. Avoid it at all costs if you want to have a good time.

Guiness, Yeagermister, Irish Coffee. That nasty triple play was my usual order at this neighborhood hang-out. Friendly people (customers as well as staff). Beer is always fresh. Few changes over the last 15 years: Jukebox is unwelcome substitute for the cigarette machine, but food is much better.

Pints of guinness in comfy atmosphere.... equals drinking all night. Their sweet irish coffee topped with whipped cream is yummy.
