helpful extraordinary staff, favorite place, great cards, cool card shop, rude staff, good taste, unique gifts

I'm a sucker for beautiful cards. People should mail cards to friends more often! This is the best place to find quirky, unique cards for every occasion. Staff is super friendly too!
I LOVE this place... It's my "go to" place for gifts and cards in my neighborhood. The staff has always been so nice to me... and to my dog, who occasionally stops in. Their selection, always interesting, runs from inexpensive, but fun to Hollywood glam. I also like the fact that if I'm looking for a card and can't find exactly what I want, they'll go into their pulled cards (usually just one or two of a kind) and bring a themed group of cards out for me to look through. Also, the free gift wrap is great. -- This is one of only 3 or 4 places I count on to find unique and special gifts.
Arrogant management, unethical and way overpriced!. I left four boxes to be gift wrapped yesterday and was quoted $18, $24, $24 and $28. When I picked them up today they tried to charge me significantly more, saying "our quotes are not firm". They certainly hadn't told me this when I left the packages and a guy (I think the owner) had the most arrogant snotty attitude with me, even after his assistant confirmed that he had given me the quotes. He acted like I was trying to rip HIM off when in fact he was ripping ME off. They finally agreed to charge me what I had quoted (far too much for gift wrapping to begin with!) and told me "we'll do it only this once, next time you'll know that our quotes are not firm". I told them that there will never be a "next time". Businesses run this way do not deserve to stay in business.
on your cell phone, they should have just asked you to leave. just stay off your cell phone...you are the kind of person that doesn't need to be in the store anyway and by the way they don't need your business. A bit self important aren't you?
This laid-back alternative to the prim gift-and-greeting-card shop boasts amusing and attractive offerings..
In Short
This South La Brea store highlights funky gifts, offbeat office supplies and cards for every imaginable human activity, while also devoting attention to gift-wrapping necessities like paper, boxes and ribbons. The assortment of greeting cards, most of which defy Hallmark appearance and sentiment, make it clear that this shop goes against the emotional grain. Quirky gifts like "walking, sparking NunZilla" wind-up toys stand shoulder-to-shoulder with enticing journals, day planners, parchment, stickers, calendars and invitations.
Best card shop in town!. Rising far above all the card shops I?ve ever been to is Pulp. Here?s three reasons why you should run, don?t walk, but run to this cool shop: (1) The card walls are lined with hilarious, original cards for all occasions that really make you laugh out loud. I mean, some really funny cards. I also bought holiday gifts this year for my entire office staff ? really cool stuff that was reasonable priced. (2) It ain?t in a mall, kids. It?s on the street with parking in the rear; no damn parking structure to deal with. (3) Not sure how they keep their staff happy but boy-o- boy are they nice and helpful. I bought a really funny card about a week ago. It was so funny that a friend asked me to pick one up for him. I went back to Pulp and of course, that card was sold out - they continually put out new cards, it?s why I go there so often ? but at the register I told the cashier my story. He actually went into the back and found the one remaining card I had originally come in for. Oh, and I?m guilty of going to Pulp almost every Saturday morning. I don?t always buy something - I go just so I can get a good laugh.
knowledgable and friendly staff, unique selection.
This store is an absolute treat. The selection is, unequivocally, the best in town. It's that rare place I can always go if I find something unique online, but don't want to wait for shipping. They carry merchandise from local artists; a HUGE plus.
Oh, and the music is INCREDIBLE. Do these people DJ? Every time I go in there I find myself asking an employee what song just played.
Also, I was in there the other day and happened to hear one of the sales clerks tell a customer, in an affable manner, that it wasn't very nice to be on a cell phone while checking out. AMEN! I mean, can't the phone call wait two minutes? Is it too much to give a bit of your attention to the human being STANDING DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOU? Nice to know good taste AND good manners still exist in Los Angeles.
A+++
Excellent Service, Selection. The best card selection in town, not to mention the variety of paper/stationery they offer. The buyer really does an excellent job. On my many visits the staff has always been helpful and courteous -- not in your face or, on the other hand, rude or distant. Highly recommended to any fellow paper-philes!
Great selection/Excellent Taste. Who chooses the merchandise in the store? They have excellent taste and it's reflected in the offered selection! I never go away emptyhanded (even when I promise I'm simply browsing to the sales staff)!
lots of interesting cards. this is a cute little store to go to when you're looking for a card that's NOT hallmark average. many are hand made, with various embellishments and interesting details. decent candle selection and various cute knick-knacks-as-gifts too. customer service is average, sometimes it's better to browse on your own anyways.
Rude staff!. Up until today, this was my favorite place to find little treasures. Customer service is very important to me and I found that this was not of any importance to the staff working today. I was about to make a purchase in the store when I was told by the sales lady that I was not being nice by being on my phone. I did not see any signs posted stating no cellphones. There was no one else in the store and I wasn't even being loud. Regardless of how she felt, I was giving them business and they failed to acknowledge that. This is just bad business for them. Employees should always make a customer feel welcome. That's why its called customer service. Although the merchandise is unique, I can always go somewhere else to find the same things with better service.
