House of Pies isn't a frilly restaurant. The menu is simple. Really, it is all about classic pies.

Can I have an order of attitude with my grilled cheese?. We decided to stop by this restaurant for the first time on our way up to the observatory and wished we would have kept on driving. From the outside it's an unpretentious diner but all our waiter served up was attitude. From "You're not ready yet?" with this way too surprised look on his face, to "You mean that thing right there" and laughed when I asked for a spoon which I didn't see wrapped up in the napkin, to "The same kind as everyone else" when I asked what kind of bread they had for my grilled cheese.

I didn't catch his name but he had dark hair and he's balding. He unfortunately carried this chip on his shoulder throughout our dinner. Maybe he's worked there too long, maybe it's the neighborhood, maybe he had an audition the next day, maybe his hamster passed away...regardless there's no excuse to ruin what could have been a decent experience for us.

I normally leave a 20% or higher tip but 14% here which wasn't a strong message but I didn't want to go below that.

If you want a great experience try Fred 62 across the street - always great food and service.

house of pies. Can anyone tell me where the location of the House of Pies in Glendale was. Exact address would be nice but cross streets would help me just fine.

Check it out, I like.. This place is a simple restaurant that’s been there for ever. With good simple food. Always has been clean and they are modernizing it very nicely. I like their fry’s, burgers and breakfast. I have not had their night time Dinners. Service seems fine to me and all are friendly, they don’t bite. Service can be varied according to the time of day, but not enough to complain about. I know friends who go there all the time and every one I know has been there at some time. I’m not a regular there but go at around once a fortnight or more. If you sit at the posh new bar their Sports Television’s are new HD and amazingly clear. They have both booths, tables and out side seating area. Small car park can get packed, I generally park at the side on the street. If you like pie’s take one home with you.

Nice breakfast spot. I really enjoyed this place. Went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We were seated right away and searved right away. The atmosphere was pleasant. I couldn't complain about the food, it was good. Haven't tried the pie yet. Maybe next time.

It's called House of Pies for good reason!. If you like pie, like I do, this is the place to go. They have a large selection, although be forwarned that some pies on their list are "seasonal." The pies are really the best thing about this restaurant, which is really more of a diner. They have a parking lot, which is a major plus! I think of it more as a dessert place than anything else. The rest of the food menu is standard diner fare.

Best Pie in Los Angeles. The pies alone are worth the jaunt to this Los Angeles institution. While the House of Pies serves breakfast all day and has a lunch/dinner menu packed with American classics like burgers, roast beef, and mashed potatoes, it's best to save room for dessert. Try a seasonal offering like creamy pumpkin or opt for the chocolate cream pie that has actual slices of banana embedded in the filling. Another favorite is their super creamy cheesecakes, topped with fresh fruit like strawberries. You can also pick up one House of Pie's confections to take home, including their pies, cheesecakes, and cookies.

Pies take the cake at this Loz Feliz institution.. In Short
Families, old timers, club kids and cops congregate on this trendy stretch of Vermont Avenue for inexpensive, country kitchen-style meals, desserts and bottomless cups of coffee. The always-busy dining room is brightly lit and colorful with floral carpeting, brass booth accents and faux ferns. An expansive menu includes buttermilk pancakes, open-faced turkey sandwiches and spaghetti and meatballs. But the highlight is the flaky-crust pie, available in fruit, chocolate, cream and meringue.

Welcome to the Default. That this place is the default for hollywood diner-mongers says that it is good, but not shockingly good. You'll never leave amazed, but you'll never leave particularly dissatisfied, either. Please don't consider this a bad review, just know what to expect.

Average diner food. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. The food is okay, the place is dated the wait staff is helpful, although not much english understood anymore, but the food is above average with the salads being a true stand out. If you do pie I hear it's worth splurging on their fresh pies.
