Established in 1873 and still thriving, this mainstream bookseller boasts almost 600 locations and does brisk online business as well. Ubiquitous and well organized, Barnes & Noble arranges its huge book selection in 22 user-friendly categories, from Art and Architecture to Romance and Travel. Stores host seasonal book signings and family-friendly "Storytimes." Many locations also offer music, movies and cafes that serve Starbucks coffee.

Small but cute. This triple-level Barnes, located in the westside pavilion mall, is almost like a cylinder in its design. Their selection at first seems to be limited but you just have to ask around for what you need and find your way.
