High Recommend for Plumbing and Hot Water Heater Replacement

by Jacobsladder

My hot water heater started running out of hot water before I could finish my shower. It was an old water heater that I new the day would come and I'd need to replace it. I called several places and the prices all were about the same I decided to go with Boss Plumbing because I felt most of these plumbers were very evasive in giving me a straight answer. They also showed up on time. That was a first for a service company. I decided to review them because I know there are few plumbers that you can trust so I wanted to let everyone know Boss Plumbing is a high recommend.

Very Professional

by elrubin

I had a great experience with this company and will definitely use them again. My water heater gave out on me and I called Boss Plumbing. The receptionist requested some information about the water heater and then found out that the unit was under warranty. They scheduled a tech to come out that same day and they were able to obtain the part needed to repair my water heater. I was charged a flat fee for service. I felt that they had my best interest in mind. I'm so happy with the service I received that I had to write this review.

Good Service

by Gladys Gruen

Liked the fact that when I called Boss Plumbing, the response was friendly, supportive and efficient.

I had a semi-emergency going on in my kitchen sink and they came within 2 hours, gave me an accurate estimate and we have had no problems thereafter. I felt that the crisis was very well resolved.

I would recommend Boss Plumbing for their efficiency, professionalism and appropriate pricing!

P.S. I also liked the fact that the office called to let me know about the workers being on route.

are you prepared to over pay?

by gsd98ewo

i called boss plumbing to get an estimate to move washing machine hookups in my house. we set an appointment and after the appointment window passed, they called to reschedule. no big deal, i understand that people sometimes run late. they finally arrived and said it would be $89 to provide an estimate. what?! I am a building industry professional and this is a very sketchy practice. i allowed him to proceed with the estimate against my better judgment... my mistake. after a few minutes of looking at the job, i was told that the work i wanted to do would be $2100! having dealt with subs before, i understood this bid; what he was really saying was "thanks, but no thanks." This is a very unethical practice. I'm sure they make most of their revenue by sending out $15/hour labors to give bogus/inflated estimates then collect the $89 fee. don't fall for it. i ended up having same job completed by a very competent licsnsed plumber for the reasonable sum of $480. use ANYONE but these guys! I would have used M&M plumbing as i've had great experience with them... but, alas, they only service plumbing, they don't really install new lines.

============

their response below is factually false. they did in fact arrive late... they did in fact spring the estimating fee on me... they did in fact estimate $2100 for a job that I was able to have completed for $480... they did in fact charge me $89 and would have gladly fleeced me for more had I not been better informed.

===========

there are a lot of good plumbers in los angeles who operate ethically and don't wildly overcharge... then there's boss plumbing. DON"T MAKE MY MISTAKE. If you can, get several estimates; if it's an emergency, DON"T USE THESE GUYS UNLESS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH PAYING TOO MUCH! i almost payed four times too much!

Response from a homeowner to the whiner

by TheRealityChecker

As to the other poster, yes, $70 for 1.5 hours of on site service, plus an average of 1.5 hours administrative time to support 1.5 hours at the clients home plus 30 minutes each way, totally 4.5 hours for $70 was a total ripoff of the plumbing company. A well trained journeyman plumber is entitled to that much for his 1.5 hours of being at the client as well as the hour it took to drive to and from the client's place.

Owners of plumbing firms have a responsibility to charge enough fees to run a professional business and be able to afford to spend time with their family and support their family, and he should be able to pay competitive salaries to employees so they don't go get a job working for the City DWP with full benefits and retirement.

The rant was from a typical tenant who has no idea what it costs to be in business with liability insurance, workers comp, advertising, trucks, payroll, benefits including a 401K, legal fees, vehicle insurance, office rental, equipment purchase and repairs, professional association dues, salary to the proprietor.

The owner of Boss needs to go take some accounting classes because at those fees he is ripping himself and his family off. Being in business is to make $ so you can support your family and afford time with the, not engage in charities like $70 for all that time. The whiner should thank Boss for being charitable!

Maybe the tenant would be better off hiring some illegal alien off the street corner in front of Home Depot?
