very rough plumber, good customer service, bad service, comfortable unless, very sketchy practice, professional association dues, full benefits
High Recommend for Plumbing and Hot Water Heater Replacement. My hot water heater started running out of hot water before I could finish my shower. It was an old water heater that I new the day would come and I'd need to replace it. I called several places and the prices all were about the same I decided to go with Boss Plumbing because I felt most of these plumbers were very evasive in giving me a straight answer. They also showed up on time. That was a first for a service company. I decided to review them because I know there are few plumbers that you can trust so I wanted to let everyone know Boss Plumbing is a high recommend.
Very Professional. I had a great experience with this company and will definitely use them again. My water heater gave out on me and I called Boss Plumbing. The receptionist requested some information about the water heater and then found out that the unit was under warranty. They scheduled a tech to come out that same day and they were able to obtain the part needed to repair my water heater. I was charged a flat fee for service. I felt that they had my best interest in mind. I'm so happy with the service I received that I had to write this review.
Liked the fact that when I called Boss Plumbing, the response was friendly, supportive and efficient.
I had a semi-emergency going on in my kitchen sink and they came within 2 hours, gave me an accurate estimate and we have had no problems thereafter. I felt that the crisis was very well resolved.
I would recommend Boss Plumbing for their efficiency, professionalism and appropriate pricing!
P.S. I also liked the fact that the office called to let me know about the workers being on route.
are you prepared to over pay?.
i called boss plumbing to get an estimate to move washing machine hookups in my house. we set an appointment and after the appointment window passed, they called to reschedule. no big deal, i understand that people sometimes run late. they finally arrived and said it would be $89 to provide an estimate. what?! I am a building industry professional and this is a very sketchy practice. i allowed him to proceed with the estimate against my better judgment... my mistake. after a few minutes of looking at the job, i was told that the work i wanted to do would be $2100! having dealt with subs before, i understood this bid; what he was really saying was "thanks, but no thanks." This is a very unethical practice. I'm sure they make most of their revenue by sending out $15/hour labors to give bogus/inflated estimates then collect the $89 fee. don't fall for it. i ended up having same job completed by a very competent licsnsed plumber for the reasonable sum of $480. use ANYONE but these guys! I would have used M&M plumbing as i've had great experience with them... but, alas, they only service plumbing, they don't really install new lines.
their response below is factually false. they did in fact arrive late... they did in fact spring the estimating fee on me... they did in fact estimate $2100 for a job that I was able to have completed for $480... they did in fact charge me $89 and would have gladly fleeced me for more had I not been better informed.
there are a lot of good plumbers in los angeles who operate ethically and don't wildly overcharge... then there's boss plumbing. DON"T MAKE MY MISTAKE. If you can, get several estimates; if it's an emergency, DON"T USE THESE GUYS UNLESS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE WITH PAYING TOO MUCH! i almost payed four times too much!
>> This customer claims we came late. This is not the case. We provide our customers with a ?2-hour window? of time-of-arrival, and we call in advance when our technician is en-route.
>> Estimate Fees are always agreed to in advance before we perform our initial inspections. The fees are reasonable according to industry standards and are fully explained over the phone prior to us coming out. There are no surprises.
>> We do not provide ?bogus/inflated? estimates. It is not in our interests to do so, since, we provide the estimates in the hopes that we will eventually land the job.
>> We find it hard to believe that the job was completed for $480.00. The work would require us to run pipes from the basement up through to the attic. Not, ?just a few feet? as the customer told us.
>> Our initial $2100 estimate was reviewed by the company owner (a man with over 25 years plumbing experience) and was found to be fair and reasonable given the amount of work that was necessary.
Response from a homeowner to the whiner.
As to the other poster, yes, $70 for 1.5 hours of on site service, plus an average of 1.5 hours administrative time to support 1.5 hours at the clients home plus 30 minutes each way, totally 4.5 hours for $70 was a total ripoff of the plumbing company. A well trained journeyman plumber is entitled to that much for his 1.5 hours of being at the client as well as the hour it took to drive to and from the client's place.
Owners of plumbing firms have a responsibility to charge enough fees to run a professional business and be able to afford to spend time with their family and support their family, and he should be able to pay competitive salaries to employees so they don't go get a job working for the City DWP with full benefits and retirement.
The rant was from a typical tenant who has no idea what it costs to be in business with liability insurance, workers comp, advertising, trucks, payroll, benefits including a 401K, legal fees, vehicle insurance, office rental, equipment purchase and repairs, professional association dues, salary to the proprietor.
The owner of Boss needs to go take some accounting classes because at those fees he is ripping himself and his family off. Being in business is to make $ so you can support your family and afford time with the, not engage in charities like $70 for all that time. The whiner should thank Boss for being charitable!
Maybe the tenant would be better off hiring some illegal alien off the street corner in front of Home Depot?

Great service. I called Boss they came to me the next day to replace my sink they had everthing they needed to get the job done in an hour! they cleaned up after themselves and it was a great all around experience I highly recommend using them
Good Customer Service!!. I like this company, when I called I was able to understand the person on the phone and they sounded positive. I don?t like when I call a company and the customer service rep sounds like they hate you for calling them or like you are taking up their sweet time. So anyway this person was nice. I told them my problem and I was able to get a plumber out a few hours later when I would be home. I didn?t have to wait all day like I have in the past for the cable guy. They took my cell # and gave me a two hour window for my appointment. They gave me a call 40 min. before the plumber got there to give me a heads up (this is very nice for a busy-body like me). The plumber was cool he didn?t waste any time and gave me options: repair the shower valve handle thing or replace it-- so I got the repair since it was recommended. It wasn?t cheap but they didn?t rip me off. The services were good and I?d rather pay for good service than save a few $$ and have bad service. I?ll be calling them back if I?m in a bind again; they even sent me a care package and asked how the service was. I like that!
Avoid this business.
Terrible service--felt quite ripped off with their service.
Plumber was not friendly and very rough around the edges.
Service was very expensive as well.
There are several points we would like to make: 1. We came ON TIME to the job in our fully stocked truck. 2. We spent 1.5 hours trying to clear a line before we told the customer (tenant) it would need to be replaced. The line is inaccessible and estimated repairs are costly. 3. Total charges for the entire service call were only $69.00 and we do not feel this is a rip-off considering the time and effort we spent at the job. 4. Our technicians are always clean and well-dressed in their Boss Plumbing uniforms -- we do not understand what "rough around the edges" means.
